I have footwear similar to your picture, but to me, they pass as "flip shoes". I wear them in hot weather(with socks, like in your picture).

@richgem this reminds me of something that happened when I was in my teens. I had come home from school & my Dad told me that there was something wrong with our dryer. He explained that the laundry came out with an even number of socks, so the sock destroyer must be broken. (Dad could be quite a tease.)
