My profile page says I joined TSD back in March of 2008. I'm not sure if that date goes back to the old site, because I think I might have joined earlier (2006 or 2007 maybe). TSD got me through a *really* dark time in my life. I could come here, talk about shaving and related goodness, and escape the darkness for an hour or two. It got me through and today, I'm better for it. Thank you to everyone who was part of that, especially Joanna and Sparky! Like the man with the funny hat says, "All good things must come to an end."
Well, since US forums accept shavers from all over the world, I expect that forums in other countries would similarly look at your interests rather than your geographical location. In any case, you lose nothing by trying.
I've been a member of a Dutch language forum for some time and just joined two Italian language forums. Only one Italian forum, however, has approved my membership for some reason.
Hmm...Interesting. I wasn't aware of any rejections from other countries. OTOH, if I read your reply accurately, you were approved by 2 out of the 3 forums you applied to. Did the one Italian forum that didn't approve you give a reason? @blondblue, TSR has approved me, so apparently they're open to participants from other countries.
To be more exact, I don't know for sure that the one Italian forum has rejected me. However, I cannot log in until the membership has been approved and it has not been approved yet, over a week after joining. In addition, I've had no communication from the mods. So, I draw the conclusion that they're not going to approve me.
As much as I haven't been around lately (life's in the way again), I'm still amazed that this board survived as an amiable oasis in an increasingly frenetic and dehumanized internet. I am doubtful that we'll see its like again.
