A question on the canned 'goo'...

I read on here tonight that Colgate canned foam was discontinued last year. Kind of sad, really, since that was what I learned to shave with and what my whole family used.

Anyway, I found a small mom and pop store that still has 3 cans or so and I'll probably buy them just to have and use occasionally for old times sake. I'm curious, though, if the aerosol stuff will dissipate over time and they won't work at all? Does anyone know?

    Thanks,

Aerosol cans have several rubber gaskets and they do leak over time. Also, foam, unlike spray paint, has a very specific range for propellant. You'll get bad foam if there's too much or too little propellant.

I think it's hit or miss after about five years. I might work perfectly, be totally dead, or work today and be dead tomorrow. And yes, you could be lucky and have a ten year old can work perfectly fine.

One tip: Do not store a can on its side. It leaves the gasket partially in liquid and greatly increases the propensity for propellant leakage.

I primarily use creams and soaps but I keep a can around for those days when I'm running really, really late.
