Hello All: Just a quick note to say HI from one headshaver to all others. I have been shaving my head for about 10 years but just last month started shaving with a DE. It is a new technique but am slowly learning not to cut my ear off or make my head look like "Jack the Ripper" got ahold of me. I loved the video with the straight razor....WHEW. Not brave enough for me to do that. Take care and hope to talk to fellow headshavers here soon. Eagle
Welcome! Very glad to have another head shaver here. Good luck with the DE - I have never used one so I cannot give any specific advice. However, I think there are others here who can. Welcome again! James.
Welcome Eagle! I tried first with a straight. It worked OK, but because some areas are out of sight, it takes a long time to do it safely. Then I tried a Merkur Slant. Well, that was not a good idea. I have some bumps on my head, and the Slant cuts off everything in its path! It was a mess. I finally ended up using a Weishi, the most gentle DE known to me. For me it is the perfect tool, - for the head. For my face I prefer the Slant (weekdays) and straight (weekends).
Welcome to the Den! There are a lot of DE head shavers about, so hopefully you will get some answers.
Welcome to TSD! Fellow head-shaver here. I usually use the Headblade S4 for the dome but will occasionally throw in a DE shave here and there.
Fusion Fan I gave the DE a try for awhile, but finally admitted defeat. The Gilette Fusion does a great job, and the little trimmer blade on the back is great for getting at the fold at the back of my neck. I use that and whatever shaving cream I'm using that week (this week, it's the L'Occitane Gel).
I use a Fatboy on 3 with a mild blade - Crystal, Dorco 300, or Durasharp Stainless. The cartidges clog really fast for me and it takes longer to get a shave that's not as close compared to the DE. I'll say my head is much easier to shave than my face and is much more sensitive. A very mild DE setup is definately required for a DE head shave.
