Thanks for the heads up. I have sampled the cream and it is similar to Taylors. My guess is that it's made by Creightons.

You basically get free shipping plus $.20, the cream is $5.00 off of $27.00. I've been watching for awhile and this is the first I've seen the shave gear at a discount.

The splash cologne is steeply discounted also, $14.00 off of $62.00. Classy bottle.

Anyone have an opinion on the scent?

  5. Sheeeeeesh,

Thank you very much for posting about this stuff! I hear about it from time to time, but can't remember what the members have said. Hehe, also, I was too lazy to even look at any reviews that might be around. Chris, you have enabled me once again......

Sigh.......I ordered a tub. Yeah, I spent a little time reading about the scent, and it sounds pretty darn good. My 'healthy curiosity' has got the best of me once again.

I included the basenotes review link, which sealed the deal for me. Plus, it's a huge tub..........7 ounces. Pretty nice deal if the product is a good one. I'll most likely offer up a few samples when the stuff gets here.

Anyway, it ran me $26.80, which included shipping.

Hope some of you guys enjoy the reading the reviews,
    Martin

  8. Hiya,

I found some reviews of the shaving cream at B&B, and they were all positive. Each of the 5-6 members found the stuff to work well, and almost all of em also liked the scent. The main thing though was that it performed nicely for everyone, including the veterans.

Yeah, I'm excited to get this......heh.

I was thinking about it myself just yesterday. It looks like it could be an Edwin Jagger, but I have no proof of this. The dark mock tortoiseshell would look nice I bet and it does claim to be sliver tip.

I'm thinking of it myself. $58.00 for a 4" silvertip badger brush
I have a Vulfix 377 but its 5 1/4" tall & 3 1/2 wide. Covers my whole cheek when lathering with it.

    J. Peterman 1903 Brush and Shave Cream came in the mail..Brush just over 3 1/2 high including handle.Several hairs came out while I was stroking my palm.Didnt look like silvertip but could be wrong. Wasn't what I wanted. Kept the cream. Returned the brush.

Thanks for reporting on it, now we know. I think you will be pleased with the cream. I know I am very happy with it.

  17. Hi All,

I'll agree with Chris and say the cream has been a very good blind buy for me. Used it 4 times now, and it's been a kick.

    Martin

Oh Chris? Thanks again for pushing me off the fence..........

I still can't get over the fact that I always thought J. Peterman was only a fictional Seinfeld character. I also notice that the copy on the products pages is similar to what was seen on Seinfeld. Just weird....

It's real and quality stuff, well except for the "1903 Cologne Woody" which turned out to be very cheap looking wood grained plastic!!! :( That was very disappointing and I may return it, still haven't heard a response to my emailed concerns.
