Now.... are you talking about "regular" people with a great deal of pirate enthusiasm, knowledge of pirate trivia, say "arrrrgh" whenever agreement is needed, etc... or do you mean actual pirates that attempt to swagger while wearing pocket protectors.
while not a pirate nerd, per se, I am a Pastafarian. As I'm sure you're aware, Pirates are the Flying Spaghetti Monster's chosen people.
Dave, I am not a Pirate nerd, I had to google Charles Gibbs, but now I must find a copy of his confessions and read them. Awesome find, where did you come across such a thing? any chance you could tell us what it says?
very interesting...you have quite a few pirate fans here, and a couple of pirate geeks...if "fan" is the home end zone, and "geek" is the visitor endzone, I'm on the 50 + 1 foot
The movement must be growing. I hadn't heard anything out of or about the Pastafarians for months. However, after reading this post, I observed two separate Pastafarian references today (including a total random one in the hallway a minute ago...) unless.... my co-workers are all have secret hordes of shave swag that they aren't sharing and they lurk here. Avast!
hah, that was a very "geeky" explanation.... I'm a bit of a fan, towards the nerdy side. I was just reading Pirates of the Chesapeake a few weeks ago. I didn't get very far into it yet, it's a bit dry and I haven't found time to just sit down and read it. But I hadn't heard of Gibbs, either, until I just googled him....
In case anyone else is interested in the book of Charles Gibbs Confessions, "Dead Men Tell No Tales" I found an e-copy
I have a pirate at every family gathering. My brother-in-law, Captain Johnny O (John O Kelly). Website is here!
