A couple weeks ago I picked up a tub of AoS lavender. I understand that it's made with lavender EO - but I must say I'm not all that impressed with the aroma. It makes lots of lather, but the fragrance just isn't my favorite. It just doesn't smell like what I think lavender should smell like.

I haven't tried any other lavender creams - so nothing to compare it with. I have a tub of TOBS rose, which I think is great, so I'm considering purchasing a tub of TOBS lavender. Any other brands I should be considering? I understand Castle Forbes is made with lavender EO - does the quality/fragrance of the cream justify the expense relative to TOBS?

    Thanks,

Get the Castle Forbes cream - best lavender cream out there! Lavanda is great, too!

Lavender is another scent that varies quite a bit but of course not like sandalwood. I thought the AOS and the CF smelled similiar with a slight better edge with the CF but not worth the price of admission. It is a damn good cream though. E shave also has a pleasant one but also smells similiar to CF and AOS. T&H lavender does not smell like any lavender I have ever smelled. Lavanda is nice but it has a medicinal scent b/c the menthol. I still love it though! MAybe JoAnna has some samples of the other lavenders?

I’ve been rather curious about the Connaught Lavender Luxury Shave Cream. It gets good reviews.

    Description from the website:
Luxury Shaving cream for use with a shaving brush.
Enriched with coconut oil & glycerin to aid a close, comfortable shave.
    Scented with pure essential oils.
    Made in England.

Anyway, read the reviews, this might be what you’re looking for.

I recently started using some Truefitt and Hill Lavender. It's great shave cream but a bit weak on scent.

I tried the Castle Forbes Lavender and I was underwhelmed. Perhaps I should've given it a few more tries. D.R. Harris Lavender worked wonderfully from the very first time.

Anybody know where I could get some dr Harris samples?

  14. Colonial drug in Boston is very generous with samples.

    Send a note to 1000scents@colonialdrug.com

Cathy is wonderful to deal with. They just sent me a bunch of CF samples. When I responded that I had received them, she asked if there was anything else I wanted to try.

Cathy is great. She just sent me a set of samples. She said she threw in a surprise. I can't wait.

It's a domestic brand from Ach Brito, the makers of Musgo Real. A member here (Leon) sells it for a very reasonable pice. www.vintagescent.com

What is the scent like? Looks like it has menthal. How is the cooling effect?

Well, I'm not sure about the scent. It is a lavender cream, but it could also smell like... lavender. Or lavender? No, I'm pretty sure it smells like lavender :D

The menthol in the cream is barely noticeable so there is no real cooling effect to speak of.
