Ok, I am taking in some show and tell for a class that is reading the play of "The Diary of Ann Frank." In the play there is a reference to a safety razor. It does not say specifically what brand, just that it is a safety razor. My question is, what kind do you guys think it is? This would in 1942-43 in Amsterdam. So what would be the most common razor for them to easily obtain?
Ooo very interesting. It is this week so I think I am just going to have to take my one and only SS, but I will have to keep an eye out for next year.
AsylumGuido - you never cease to amaze!!! Do ya think it could have been a Merkur or other german since they were makin quite a few at that point too? And Amsterdam ain't too far.
It could not have been af Merkur for this reason: As Holland was occupied by Germany like Denmark (where I live) and many other countries, the first you - as a citizen - did was to boycot anything German. A) Because you hated the occupying force/country. B) Because the boycot was one of the few things you actually could do without getting punished but still feel you did something to strengthen your moral. And the big C: Anne Frank was jewish and so must a lot of her relatives and friends have been. I can't imagine a jewish man use any German thing during WWII. Just my five cents... Regards cop
And by the way COP - I just finished a couple of big cans of FAXE brewery danish amber - YUMMMMY!!! I will definately be buying more of that stuff!
