Anyone know what kinda case this thing would have come in. I have been using mine a lot.. I love this thing.
I broke out a 1914 ever ready this morning. Great shave with a treet blade.Little bit different feel from a 1912 but not much. Mine has American Safety Razor Company stamped inside the head and Ever Ready on the back of the head. Something else for newer folks to try. They are not that hard to pick up in great shape.
1st test drive with the Gem Ornate 1912....WOOOOOO!! I like it more than the Micromatic. Gem blade in it, C&E Sandalwood soap and I'm in LUUUUVVVV.....I put it in the rack next to my fav Old and fav New.
Thanks for the reply. I saw in another GEM post, you can buy blades for them in the pharmacy? Never knew that.
I have to blame that wascally wabbit and his ceaseless promotion of the single edge blades. And that Sir Irving guy. And, I have to also blame a very generous member here who PIFd me a lovely 1912 Ornate Gem Junior with 4 GEM blades. ( thnx man!!) HOLY CRAP!!!! NOW THAT IS A FRIGGIN SHAVING MACHINE!!!!!! The only word that kept jumping into my head during the shave was 'Astonishing!!'. Really!! Couldn't stop thinking that this was the first time I was using the word 'Astonishing' over and over, and thinking that it was actually the right word to use!!! WOW!!! FRIGGIN WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First off, the sound is great! Beyond great actually. I really love to be able to hear a blade working and this damn thing is awesome. Second, this is my first time ever with a single edge so I expected a learning curve, and it simply is the best shave I have had to date no matter what I compare it to. I can't imagine how great it will get from here on. I am stunned. What can I say?? Wow!!! My face feels great. No burning, no bumps, no stubble, no nothin - but face! Thnx to you single edge guys for persevering on your promotion of single edge shavers. That friggin razor and blade kick assssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
VIVA LA REVOLUTION Glad you enjoyed. There is nothing better then when it all comes together. I have several 1912's with different handles. It still amazes me how simple a great shave is with them. I have used the one that is pictured up above for the last two shaves. It was wonderful. Welcome to the Club. Fuzzy
The Gem and Ever Ready stroppers are deigned to hold a regular spined s/e blade. I use mine a lot,and it works well.I get two or three extra shaves per blade now.Definately worth getting one if you love single edge shaving. You can use the stropper on a Valet strop also. Cheers Phil.
It is now clear to me that I must add another SE or two to my collection. That and a SE blade sampler pack might be in my future. :think002
