Do you use both right & left hands when DE shaving, like with str8 shaving, or do you just use your dominant hand?

Primarily my dominant, but I'll occasionally switch-hit, it catches those tough whiskers off guard :D

When I tried out a DE, I alternated hands during shaving

Based on what I was taught in grad school I would expect 90% of the answers would be the dominant hand. I would expect among those that use straight razors the answer would be 100% dominant hand. I would suspect that hoglahoo is ambidextrous when he writes.

But from what I understand the str8 razor shavers use both hands, regardless of the level of ambidexterity they start with. This apparently provides the best shave and possibly would also be best for DE shavers and shaving.

And imagine the value you would gain in more flexible thinking and baseball batting if you could exercise more ambidexterity in general!

the first gillette booklets showed the use of both hands.

I have not tried my non-dominant hand yet. I know that when I use the clippers on my hair, I can't get it right with the wrong hand.

I use my dominant hand. I've tried using both hands but it never turned into a habit.

I guess I am just a little twoo inexperienced at the art fo the straight razor shave to say anything there.

I use both, helps a lot.

If you want to beef up your weak hand, lather with it for a while. That will get it going.

If you still need help, watch Rocky 2.

I use both hands. Left hand for left side and right hand for right side.

From day one, I forced myself to learn with both hands. Occasionally, I have some problems on my lower neck with my left hand - I'm right-handed - but it's still better than reaching over with my right hand.

Or First Blood. Rambo uses his left and right hands equally for his mayhem.

Are these available on Hulu yet?

I try to use both, but definitely feel more comfortable with the right(dominant) hand, with straights and DE razors.

Will's suggestion on lathering with the left is a good one to build up dexterity of the non-dominant hand. I have been trying to make it point to do this.

    This thread got me thinking...
If you're truly ambidextrous and have two matching razors, you can give it the ol' John Woo action and shave with two razors at once.
(but I wouldn't advise trying to do the twin-pistol jump with razors)

If you can't throw a baseball with your non dominant hand, why would you put a razor in it.:confused:
