    Anyone tried this?

What does a sea buckthorn smell like anyways???

I have been wondering about this soap, and John now carries it at shavingessentials.net

I have it.. Its a great soap.. EJ has finally gotten their soaps to work.. (or Muehle if you like, its the same soap).. About the scent.. Its a rather sweet flowery scent.. A bit like Pinaud classic but milder and sweeter.. Its hard to describe..

All in all a very nice soap.. Tad expensive though..

Thanks Thomas, I'm not big on floral scents. I had Trumpers Rose and Trumpers lime soaps but traded them both away as they were too powdery/floral scented.
Is the floral scent very strong in the soap?

Jeff, you can have them send it to me. :D

See if John will ship to the great white north,
it's on 7.50 for the refill here

  7. Hiya,

I've used the EJ (Muhle) buckthorn shaving cream, and the scent is excellent! I don't remember getting a floral note from it, and it was a fragrance I'd never sniffed before. Never tried the soap version though, so I can't comment on performance.

Heh, sorry not to be more helpful, but I'd recommend trying the stuff as far as it agreeing with your nose. It's an unusual and quite pleasant scent.

    Good luck with that,
    Martin

One soap I see that I am interested in is Proraso in the white bowl, but I can for cheaper here in Montreal, for less than 6,00 CDN. Why to pay more?

  10. Hi there Thomas,

Heh, your post made me smile a bit. Yeah, not ever having too many soaps sounds about right. Remember our conversation over a year ago about your small collection?

You newer members may find it amusing to know Thomas had around 80 soaps/creams in his shaving arsenal, last time it came up. Impressive eh? Yes, Thomas is quite an 'enthusiastic hobbyist'.......heh.

I hope you don't mind me relating that fact about you......I thought a few others might like to see how deep the rabbit hole can go....heh.

Nice typing at you once again,
    Martin

I have the sandalwood, aloe, and seabuckthorn cream versions of EJ, not the soap (yet). I also don't really detect floral scents from sea buckthorne. This scent is very unique. From the reviews I've read as well as some pm's sent to a real nice gent on B&B, this is a very outstanding soap. I hope to try it soon. But the ever watchful eye of the resident lady is always watching........always scrutinizing..........I must be careful....

This thread is very disturbing to newbies seeing how bad it can really get.......:shocked003
Makes me wonder if wet shaving is for me.:happy001

Just kidding fellows. I haven't even done any wet shaving and I have been having dreams of the hot towel, lathering of the brush, the feel of the lather on my face, and the shaving away of whiskers. :happy093

I think I have it bad!!!!

  17. Hiya,

I'll update my post from last year, having now tried the soap as well as the cream.

I really like the soap. Same excellent scent as the cream, and the performance is better than good. I recieved a gift puck from my buddy Fozzy-Beard quite a while back, and was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it. Since then I've ordered more, and it's a part of my small(6-8 soaps/creams) rotation.

Using a 2 cup glass bowl(with a lid) works best for having plenty of room swirling the brush around.
    Good stuff.

    Martin

I have received a HJM Aloe Vera soap. I strongly belive it is the same as the Muhle or Edwin Jagger soap. I shaved with it, but didn't like it. It burned my skin. But I used it only once. It lather ok, but wasn't great in any category. I will try it again though...

The comparison at gut-rasiert is between a new edition EJ soap and an older version from Muehle.. I have soaps from both EJ and Muehle - as far as I can tell they are today the same.. And always has been if you compare the different edtions together.

I have had I think 3 different editions from either EJ or Muehle. But the soaps they sell today are all exellent shave soaps - get some !

    Hope this makes any sense..
