Something came in the mail today The set is in amazing condition considering it's over 100 years old... Some reflections on the razor make it look like it has plate loss, but I can assure it doesn't. It was well taken care or completely forgotten over the years. I haven't even given it a thorough cleaning yet... A helluva lot more pictures to come!
That wonderful razor is not yours. It is mine and I would appreciate your sending it to me immediately. Looks like someone sent it to you by mistake. Now that we have that issue settled. Please clean it up carefully and enjoy a few shaves before you send it to me. Thanks,
Not the only time it has happened to me. There are more than a dozen or so vintage SE and DE razors out there that I bought and paid for only to have them sent to other guys. Seems I made them the same offer that I gave Scott and I have not gotten one of the delivered to me yet. :happy001 :rofl :happy097
Heya Chris, At work at the moment but I believe the backside of the head said USA, Gemany and England.. but since it was purchased in England my hunch is it was manufactured there as well. There's some dating info on it as well.. I'll post that info later too. On a side note, the seller stated that is was missing a cap for the one of the canisters.. as is turns out it wasn't. The brush was accidentally hanging out in the shaving stick canister and acts as bottom for the other canister.. you pop it out and then screw onto the top and viola.. brush with handle! Looking forward to tomorrow's shave..
:signs154 Now send us our razor, Bryce and I have joint custody of said razor. :happy097 :happy102 Seriously though enjoy that one!!
Okay, so here's the info on the bottom of the head: PATENTED IN UNITED STATES ENGLAND AND GERMANY DEC 27 - 98 SEPT 15 - 03 JAN 19 - 04 MFG CO NY .. So I gather the oldest Lather Cather is from 1898 and the latest model (at the time) was from 1904.. I think? Thoughts anyone?
That is REALLY nice Scott!! Congrats. (The brush though reminds me of this elderly squirrel we have in the neighbourhood!)
Well, how does it shave? Don't tell us you have not tried it yet? Come on fess up and share the info. That really is a sweet razor, I don't recall seeing one with the crosshatching on the head before.
