I love my '57 Super Speed with an Astra Superior. The way blades keep disappearing I might want to stock up, but I do find several other blades that nearly as good as the Astra.
Astras are also my favorite in my late 50's SS. I have 80 or so. I should buy 100 7 o' clocks and 100 swedes. At least the SE Gem blades arent going anywhere.
Good question. HD + Greek BICs - unless I try the 38c and it floors me. This wouldn't be hard to maintain either. It's the creams/soaps and splashes that I need rotation with!
I could do one razor, one blade. I could keep soaps and creams down to 5, if not less. Probably 3 or 4. As for AS, I only use 2 right now anyway, but I'm going to order more TSD milk in other scents. I think I'm past experimenting for the most part now that I do get good shaves. I get pretty peeved when I try something new and get a crappy shave.
Why limit myself to just one razor, one blade. I have so many razors in my rotation that I enjoy so I will stick with that. As for blades I do stick to just one DE (SharpEdge) and one SE (Pellas) but will soon acquire some Super Iridiums from Paul at Connaught to go with the SharpEdge blades just for some variety. But, if I had to limit myself to just one razor, one blade, then it would be my 1911 Elite GEM Jr and a Pella blade.
Why's everyone so in love with Astra Superiors on this forum and B&B. They're good blades but the Keramiks are a bit longer-lasting and get no attention... I recall their being a hit on SMF.
I have a story here that is applicable to conversation at hand that shows my loyalty to the one razor that has taken care of me for quite a while now. I was in a local hospital last year for the day (let's not get into the hostial stay whys thats a sore spot for me), when the hospital gave me one of those stupid twin blade disposables to clean myself up with :angry017. Ugg there is no way I am letting one of those plastic things touch my face ever. I called my mrs from the room and made her bring my 40's super speed, brush and soap from home. There was no way that I was going to do anything with that plastic thing ever, although I understnad why they do that.::kar Now I will never go to a hospital without my gear in a bag somewhere for me.
Edwin Jagger Diffusion 89L with 7 O'clock Sharp Edge. Smooth, well balanced and sharp - the best balance of the three I've come across in 45 yrs.
If I had to pick just one razor and blade...it would be my good old Tech loaded with a Grecian BiC blade. I get a smooth, supremely comfortable, and virtually goof proof shave with this setup--and I can get 7-8 good shaves out of a BiC blade instead of just 3 or 4.
Quattro, Titanium of course, and its matching carts. Wolverine Edition is a must - or I grow a beard.
Just one razor, one blade, for life: that's easy! Gillette New (short teeth) with a Derby eXtra blade... period. Done. Happy.
I have moved to a Dovo Inox straight razor lately so one blade for life is not really a hard thing to imagine.
