I've been know to use almost anything really. As long as it does not irritate or dry out too quickly. Lately I have been enjoying C&E Sienna (cream). James.
I have many and rotate them frequently.* One that I find very good for head shaving is Col. Conk's Almond.* It has a pleasant scent and gives a nice slick lather which works well when shaving the noggin. I also like a nice menthol cream when shaving my head. I love the cooling sensation, particularly in the summer months. My favorites are Ingrams and Noxema. Proraso would also be good. You could give the Proraso soft soap a go.
I also like whatever I am using on my face, this time of year Proraso or Ingram's although I used TOBS this am.
Col. Conk's Almond - #1 in my book because it was recommended by the pretty saleswoman in the cutlery store. As an added bonus, I get great shaves when I use it. Tabac -Simply outstanding. Easy to lather, very lubricating and cushioning, and makes my face feel nice afterward. I could get a good shave from a piece of jagged glass after lathering with this stuff. At least it seems that way. Institut Karite - As good as the Tabac! I could even get a nice shave with a 10-bladed cartridge razor with this soap. Well, maybe not quite, but it makes the morning shave go extra smoothly. Very nice scent, too. Van Der Hagen's Deluxe - A great soap for dirt cheap. Shaving products like this are why I started using a DE razor, a brush and real shaving soap.
I did a poll some weeks ago and I think that Shaver X will be interested in the results that I got: 4 Votes for tabac 3 votes for vander hagen 3 votes for williams 1 vote for Col Conk (I bet you can guess who cast that vote - me)
