    Saturday AM

    Hot shower
Proraso Pre-Post at beginning of shower
King of Shaves Azor Sensitive cream during shower
    VDH Boar brush
    Merkur Progress w/ Swedish Gillette
    Cedarmanfurniture soap
    WWR
    D.R. Harris Sandalwood A/S splash
    CWR
    Proraso A/S balm

First go-round with the (in)famous Cedarman soap. Not good lather at all. Tried numerous times and eventually settled on a lather that is sub-par compared a QED soap, Mama Bear's soap, TSD soap, etc.

I could be having an off day, though. So more to follow! Yeah for me!

    Prehave: Proraso
    Brush: GFT Best Badger

Razor: 1959 Gillette Fatboy (set on 7)
    Blade: Feather
Aftershave: Third Stone Botanicals Bay Rum

Not a bad shave all in all. 3 passes (WTG,XTG,ATG). Got about 3 tiny nicks but seem to have the problem of razorburn well and truly beaten.

    Tom Ford 'Amber Absolute' EdP

A real disaster this morning......even managed to cut myself! It's gotta be well over a year since this happened (actually, I can't even remember when the last time was). The styptic pencil just couldn't work it's magic..........sheesh. Took the cut half an hour to finally shut down totally.

The first two times (of the four total) ever using this razor I tried an Iridium blade, and it was great. No problems at all.........smooth, comfortable, and room for error. I was really surprised, since the razor looks a bit aggressive. As a result, the last couple of shaves have been with a feather(another one of my usual blades). Heh, yesterday I sliced my neck in one spot...left a 1/4 inch red line near my adams apple. There was even an almost transparent piece of skin still hanging.........very nice!

So, today I went extra slow and that turned out badly. The problem is there is ZERO room for error with this razor/blade combo. Yeah, the cut happened even before I felt any sorta warning sting or resistance. And, the cut occurred on a spot I've never had a problem with before.

Man, once again I'm shown how the quality of my shave is affected by the blades being used. Heh, I recall reading members thoughts on that when I was new, and I just didn't get it. I mean, sharp is sharp.........right? Well, not exactly.

A sad shave this morning........even skipped my last pass......sigh. The good news is I get to use a more wonderful set up tomorrow. Yeah, and I also became a little more empathetic towards the new DE shavers......

Amazing scent on that Bay Rum soap, huh?

I want the splash. I love Master's, but it's too oily...

    Sunday...Mother's Day:

Merkur Progress with Gillette Permasharp Blade
    Rooney 3/1 Finest
    Trumper Almond Hard Soap
Thayer's Witch Hazel; Gentlemen's Refinery AS Balm
    Knize 10

Hmm...something wasn't quite right today. Maybe it was the Trumper Almond or, more likely, the Progress/Permasharp combination. Next, I'll try the Super Iridium in the Progress. The SI has been performing well in the Futur.
