Howdy! First post on the site. Started DE shaving prior to xmas in the states whilst on holiday in Fla. Bought a Futur, Col Conk soap and went for it. First shave, I was, as we say in Scotland 'Keekin ma breeks' but I was absolutely astounded, thought, where have you been for the last 30 years. Love the Futur, didn't realise it wasn't recommended for newbies, but hey! it works. Gonna buy starter set from this guy, traditional shaving, great value. We can get some good bargains over here. I managed to get 200 W/Sword (made in England) for just over £8 ($13?) Palmolive shave stick less than a buck and Real Shaving Co. products for about $2. RSC products are made by Creightons who make creams for the 3 T's. Any visitors coming over the pond PM me and I'll point then in right direction for any deals. Yup I'm addicted. Welcome to TSD! Since Scotland is part of the UK, you should also try Ingram cream, and Erasmic soap.
John Lewis in Glasgow will sell you some Ingram cream for less than two quid, just look for their tiny men's grooming gondola somewhere beyond the women's smelly stuff. Not tried it yet but I'm looking forward to giving it a go!
Welcome to TSD! If you living in Scotland, at least try Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap. It's one of those items that some love and some hate, but it seems to get more love.
Translation Hi Blue Monkey Thank you for your kind welcome. Translation!!! I will have to be somewhat delicate here; Breeks-; An anglo-saxon term denoting a lower garment covering the legs and nether regions ie, trousers, pants. Ma-; A lowland scots phrasing for the pronoun my ie, my wife, my razor. Keekin (or keechin) from the scots keech ie, I was so afraid I keeched my briefs, or, that chilli was so hot I can't stop keechin. Apologies to all. I will attempt to keep my posts out of the toilet ie, keecher "We welcome the chase" Mr Struth
Welcome mate!Congratulations for your shaves! Is the Real Shaving company the same that is located in Peterborough and makes stuff for ASDA?
Hi Tieste Yes the very same. Stuff is good and very reasonable. Also make the stuff for the Natural Grooming Company, which is selling at some of the smaller independent shops for buttons. I'm finding out the price to quality ratio in the WS world is a bit of an eye opener. But for the love of fried bacon it's addictive. "We welcome the chase" Mr Struth
Welcome to TSD! I'm surprised by how common "howdy" is in Scotland. Some Texan went over and ruined an entire nation.
