This is to show once and for all the overall quality of Parker Razors. Please vote if you have ever received a defective parker or if you have not. I assume Parker lovers and haters will plead their cases. I received a defective Parker 80R. The vendor returned it no problem. I had to pay return shipping. I recently caved and ordered a Parker 91R. Awaiting to see what I will get. I'm not saying that you cannot get a defective Merkur. I have also got one of those(Progress). As others have posted in the past, most if not all defective Gillettes would have long been tossed explaining why none would ever be found. Just want to see a percentage with the Parkers.
no, I've never received a defective Parker razor although I imagine you're asking folks that have ever actually ordered one...
oh, I'm just messing with you, needing a laugh tonight, so I created my own...besides, free BUMP for you
The Parker 22R was my first DE razor and it was in flawless condition. It has since been PIF'd to another. I wouldn't have given it to someone else if it had been defective.
I'd like to know how many recieved defective 3-piece Parker razors. I've read enough on the TTO's to avoid them. Yet, until very recently I hadn't heard of a bad 3-piece Parker. Now, I guess people are getting the 3-piece versions with uneven heads. But it's a sudden thing by a small number of people, so for those who have defective Parker razors: TTO or 3-piece?
I have 2 Parkers, 89r and 91r, with no problems at all. Very nice razors. No experience with the TTO's tho.
Uncanny... I guess I should have read the thread before I voted. Oh well, maybe it will help balance the bias toward only critics feeling the need to vote in a poll worded in such a way as this one
I only have one Parker, the 89R is a good razor although I dont like its handle, its long and kind of slipery, but I was surprise of the quality of it..I was expecting a "cheap" razor and this is looks good and its quiet of heavy.
Count me in for "defective". I have a 22R that is pretty much unusable. It takes considerable effort to get a blade to fit in there even remotely even.
The early ones were really cheaply made, mine fell apart when i picked it up after about 2 weeks. I should have known when it was engraved "Have a nice day!" on the butterflys. I have a newer one that is just fine.
the critic... should have a item "I never order/received a parker" so everyone could vote and give more accurate results sorry about the criticism.. :ashamed001
I received the Parker 91R today. There is some brass spots on the handle. Three are very noticable. Two on the knob and one at mid handle. The internal threads in the handle are not plated. I may not consider that as bad but my 70 year old tech is plated in the internal handle threads. The threads do not look the best on the head piece which may describe why the last couple turns to tighten it are rough. The handle looked curved at first. I realized the the knob was not secured on evenly giving the appearance of a bent handle. The head pieces have no brassing. The top head piece has what looks like scratches giving the appearance of it being used carelessly for a period of time. On the plus side the head does sit evenly on the handle and the blade gap is even. That was my biggest worry. With all of this said, the shave should not be affected by the problems mentioned. The only factor that worries me is that if the threads are not working smoothly that they could break in time. I have read that this happened to someone with this same model razor some time back. This offcourse also greatly effects the resale value as I loose virtually nothing from buy to sell with gillettes and minimal with merkurs. I would probably have to take a 30% cut selling this one.
The parker razors i've owned have been great. I had no idea there were so many with problems. I have heard the TTO models are all bad, but all mine have been three piece.
