Pretty cool, but highly inaccurate in both razor type and technique. He is holding the razor perpendicular to his face and pressing down pretty hard (ouch!), so obviously Tommy-boy has never used a DE . And if if I'm not mistaken, that's an English Rocket he is using -- the tell-tale signs being that the handle and gooseneck appear to be one piece, and the end caps are pointy. I believe the Rocket didn't come out until after the war, and I would also be inclined to think that a German officer would've shaved with a Merkur or Hoffritz razor.
Cool scene!I missed it.I also like one from "Schindler list" where Lian Neeson and Ralf Phiennes are shaving with a straight razor.Ill see if I can find that scene.
You would think that the film makers would at least make sure that things are accuratly depicted. Funny if you ask me, but who asked me?
Before I started using a safety razor I thought they looked pretty dangerous. It probably went over pretty well with the masses when he held it to his own throat.
It's pretty clear that there isn't a blade in there, but in all honesty I think only us shaving geeks would pick up on that. As for accurate depictions - when making movies there's really no time to waste on whether or not he's holding or using the razor properly. It's not an educational video, and it's not even an integral part of the movie. Plus, and most importantly, it may have interefered with his face shot. Don't even get me started on the accurateness of Backdraft or Ladder 49. :happy102
I just saw the movie myself last night. That lather looked pretty thin too I noticed. FWIW he was pressing down hard because he wanted to draw blood and dirty his shirt collar. Changing shirts gave him an excuse at some alone time to activate the bomb.
What the hell is he doing with that razor!! Daamn how bout some fact checking people? Good catch Rick, what would a supposed Nazi officer be doing with a post war English Rocket? Can you say BS? I won't be renting that movie.
Well his technique would be great if he was attempting to scale a fish, even then I think he'd take the skin clean off if that razor had a blade. Wow, that really scared me and I hope no one buys a DE because of that scene and tries what he does.
Bear in mind that he had lost his right hand and a few fingers from his left hand...you are not expecting him to shave with a straight and obtain BBS with only one pass, right?
stauffenberg was right handed and lost his right hand. how well do you shave with your opposite hand?
