So I have both Clubman Pinaud and Old Spice Classic AS's and let me tell you I really hate putting them on at first because they really, really sting and I don't fell that they really don't add much to the experience other than fragrance. So I am pretty sure that AS Balms will be the answer for me?
Get yourself some Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue aftershave, quickly, and all will be right with your world. Amen!
Maybe you should try with a more refreshing scent like the Aqua Velva Blue,Old Spice Whitewater, and some expensive ones like Christian Dior Eau Savage.Balms also are a good option specilly if they have a sharp clean scent.
Some of JoAnna's after shave milk would be great too. Nice, soothing and alcohol free. Plus you get to choose the scent.
I use nothing between my final rinse and the AS. What is the purpose of having alchohol in the AS if it causes irritation or burning. Mantic mentions that we should get AS's without alchohol, why?
Purpose of alcohol content = closes up pores and stops bleeding on very minor nicks. I'm not sure why mantic says no alcohol, but I suspect it has to do with drying out the face. I like skin bracer. I like the burn. And I like lots of menthol. Since I switched to a/s with alcohol I haven't needed a styptic pen or alum block.
Joaana's The Shave Den store right here on this site. Take a look. She has some great products at reasonable prices. The store is closed temporarily because she is ill. I'm sure it will be back up and running soon.
Yeah JoAnna, The Queen of Blades. You can order her stuff through the store here when it reopens. She is a little under the weather right now.
What he says. When I get a proper shave, I can splash jet fuel an my face with no burn -- after a bad shave, even plain water hurts.
I guess days when I have been bad with my technique, the AS stings to remind me to do better the next day. I guess I like the sting and the realization which comes in "Ouch !! Shouldn't have hurried that dry patch" I remember years ago, Old Spice "Mark of A Man" ads with a water surfing guy splashing old spice out of the glass bottle and his face developing the look of getting he "Sting" on it. That reminds me each time I get a sting as thats the way its supposed to be. Was it only me who saw that look ?
The Pinaud-stuff also burns on my face even if I have a very gentle shave. But I like the burning sensation on my face
