To mark and commemorate the passing our our dear friend, this week we shall revisit an earlier chat. Rolls favorite AS: Aqua Velva Ice Blue. Cool, refreshing, a bit biting and feels good. Much like our old buddy himself. Thank God he never had to see them make the switch to plastic bottles! Love it or hate it, everyone loves talking about the Velv. I think it provides great face medicine, and I will always have a few bottles of the various AV flavors on hand. I'm gonna go splash some on in his honor right now.
The first A/S I bought once I took the plunge into DE shaving. I love the cooling sensation. It's now a staple of my collection.
Rolls had good taste in aftershave, just like me. The velva is, to me, top shelf stuff. It is cheap, readily available, and it healing power is 2nd to none.
I will be using this tonight, along with the Noxzema SC, Astra Superior blade unfortunately, I don't have a fat handled tech, but I'll use my ball end tech
haha, I was just thinking the same thing for my shave tomorrow, using the Fat Handled Tech that he pointed me to on Craigslist....
The one, the only, Aqua Velva. Thank God Williams had the sense to not mess with perfection. A toast to every person that has ever used this stuff and walked away knowing he was a better man (or woman ) for having done so. Cheers, gentlemen, wherever you are in this universe.
Rolls may have been tasteless at times but he sure had taste in shaving. A fine aftershave that everyone should have.
This might be blasphemy but I was in a major mall near my home in a dollar store when I saw cheap copy of this called Men's Phoenix After Shave. Costs $1 and smelled and looked like the Combe version and was displayed in a bottle that looked identical to the Combe version. I though it to be blasphemy so I left is sitting where is was but I wanted to let people know that there is a cheap knock off of the Combe classic in dollar stores.
Great minds think alike.. I do not have a fat handle tech.. having sold it before I got into building a collection.. I do however have a ball end tech and some Noxzema shave cream. And after that there is nothing better to wear then the Velva. It is probably the best there is.. There is something about an Aqua Velva man.. and there was just something about Rolls. So tomorrow is the Tech the Nox and tha Velva. I bet Rolls will be smiling down on us for that.
I splashed some on before work tonight. Never even thought about Rolls' favorite and hadn't used it in months. He must have pushed my hand in the right direction. It's pretty good stuff.
One of the first A/S that I used and is still a staple of my rotation. Rolls knew what he was talking about between AV and Fatty techs. Definitely classics worth using.
I will get a pic of the.....bottle of AV I bought today. I will use it tomorrow in memory of Rolls. This has never been a fav of mine but tomorrow will be Rolls day. Noxzema SC and AV.
I tell ya, he was onto something there.... Maybe that should be the "Rollshave" a Tech (preferrably fat handle) or Super Adjustable, Noxzema SC and AVIB....I think that's going in my sig....
Finally wore the AV today. I have been dabbing it on but havent actually used it. So far so good. Menthol could be a bit more and the smell might grow on me. I gave my last bottle away but this one is staying. I do think of Rolls every time I smell it now. Good choice my friend!
