The Gillette Sterling is a lightweight 3 piece razor made in India, in current production. It has a light metallic head which is the same as the famous Gillette Tech. The body is black plastic similar in design and pattern to the Gillette UK G1000 TTOs. There is no stamping of the Gillette logo anywhere on the razor. There neck of the handle is lightweight aluminum handle to screw the head in to place. Aggressiveness : It is a very gentle and smooth shaver and tames even the most aggressive of all blades. Price : At 2 dollars, they are the standard shaving accessory for DE shaving in India. Grip : Because of its light plastic body, it is very light weight, but the long handle and less aggressive nature makes it a very good travel razor. I usually buy a lot of locally manufactured Parker razors, throw away their heads and replace them with these metal heads. They are a perfect fit. Photos
Excellent razor which I call the 7-Oh! It's mild, long-handled and works like a champ. Buying several in Dubai for next to nothing, I find the razor to be quite well-balanced. Not robust, it's light-medium weight.
An inexpensive DE razor, the head of the Sterling is quite similar to many later Gillette Tech models. Like most Tech razors, this is a pretty mild razor and very easy to use which makes it a good choice for a newbie. The bad part about this razor is its weight which is quite low due to its plastic handle. Pair it with a sharp blade and this does the job really well.
