I just purchased the CO Bigelow cream this evening. B&BW has a buy two get two free deal going on currently for CO Bigelow products so that was a nice surprise.
This is meant to augment my earlier post in this thread. I have been spending time on the Handcrafted Soap Makers Guild web site. It's a national trade association for people in that business. It has a state by state directory of small independent soap makers. I have found a couple of soapmakers who make tallow based or, even better, lard based soaps. If your favorite soap was made by the Amish, it was probably lard based. I am seriously considering Bootsies Soap from Arizona for shaving, bath and possibly laundry soap. Bootsies offer both lard based and vegan friendly shaving soap. I have also been on the web and found other makers who are not members of that Guild so the Guild's directory is not necessarily exclusive.
Never in a million years Never would I put shaving or beauty items togeather with Amish people. Specially shaving!! Think of it, simple farming people without technology or flashy needs in the health and beauty industry.
I agree with you and I live in Amish country. Still available in 6oz pucks. I can pick some up for you when I grab some for myself
PA Amish country ?. Yes. Family fell on hard times. I use meadow sweet. Its a mild mint, and they make tea out of it. It is a goats milk soap and lather is great. If we are talking of same family. Anyway, you get a 6 oz puck, or you can provide a jar or container. It'$1 dollar, and organic and they have a matching body soap brick for $3 bucks. If it is the same, let me know. They all use the same recipe and many women make it together. They have a violet scent that smells like the Chowards violet candy mints, but it is seasonal
