Ok, maybe I'm just picky and maybe I would have made the same mistake before I became initiated into the ways of DE razors...but...

Does it drive any of you crazy when you see pics of a razor for sale and the know-nothing seller has the thing screwed together with the base plate upside down?
I swear... I want to send every one of them a message saying " U R DOING IT WRONG!" :happy102

Meh... it's probably just me.

depends on how much they're asking for the razor. :D

yeah, sometimes the ignorance of the seller is the gain of the buyer....

Sometimes, but I think seeing all those high priced razors is getting too many of them hopeful... sadly they pay more attention to the selling prices rather than how the things are put together. :happy102

Never heard tell of this technique. How does it work? More info please?

Be that as it may, it still looks goofy... like a razor with an underbite. :happy102

The upside down razor comb acts as exactly that...a comb. A good sharp blade trims the beard hair off at an even length.

    Exactly! ;)

you're right. sometimes that is the case. but I see that as an opportunity to rejoice, because that seller won't be getting any of my money and won't be adding any friction to our otherwise small budget.

I ran across a shop that had a Gillette Tech in this fashion. At first I thought i was a razor that I didn't have, and almost bought it. Then after further investigation, I found that the plate was upside down. then I laughed to myself an fixed it for the shop owner. He only had it marked $3. I was worth a good little laugh.

Though I did start to wonder if this would be a good way to let the razor dry out after using it??

I could see that as one way of drying it out. But wouldn't it be more effective to just leave the parts unassembled and open to the air?

Probably, I was just trying to help justify why it would be put together the wrong way. :D

Actually no, that is exactly the sort of seller that I am looking for. I will generally low ball that sort of seller since the idiot knows so little he/she probably has no idea what the fair market value of the razor is so I will low ball him/her.

Please watch the name calling. Just because someone doesn't know the intricacies of our little hobby, doesn't make them an idiot.

I recently bought two razors off eBay. The seller identified them both as Gillettes. I could tell from the photo that they were a Gem Micromatic and a Schick Krona, both in good shape. The price was good so I purchased them and then informed the seller as to how to ID the razors (like read the words "Schick" and "Krona" on the head of the Schick!).

Wow. This reminds me of, well, me! On the 'other site', I posted a picture of my first DE. A gift - Gillette Travel Tech. I had posted the pic before I actually ever shaved with it. Sure enough, I photoed it with the base plate upside down. Again, I say "wow."
