Do you go for the latest or a recent Designer fragrance or a Classic from Floris, T&H, Trumpers etc?

The only fragrances I wear are Wild Fern and English Fern, and it doesn't get much more classic than those two...

I am partial to a good Sandalwood scent, though...do talcs count? Cause if I could get an AS or EDT that had the same scent as my Yardley Sandalwood Talc I'd sure wear it...

I mainly purchase classic scents. Nevertheless, I do purchase modern from time to time. Why limit yourself?

the problem is wether it good or bad i dont no but wee have so meny after shaves and colonge we ar spoilt for fragrance and the choice is fast, but some of us stick to one or two and more often than not im shure most of us has to many to count, some guys find it its nice to pick a difrecnt fragrance almost every day and thair ar some guys which stays with one alone for life i have to many i also have some of the arabic oils which ar strong and only nead a drop on the wrist or behind the ears and as the sent gets warm it relises its true perfume but theas ar very mutch a selectad choice. and i have the classics taylor,s bay rum, talors 74, old spice,4711 it just goes on and on,at the end of the day its personal choice, whats good on one person will not leave the same fragrance on somwone else,at the end of the day its nice to smell of a nice fragrance, rather than not i think,im shure thair will be plenty of difrent opinions hear.

Until recently, I wore whatever the wife liked and I didn't find offensive. That is on the days I wore anything. Along with getting into wetshaving, I've tried a few more colognes. I tend to prefer more classic scents: T&H 1805, Bay Rum, Smokey sandalwoods. Most of these aren't really matches to actual classic scents, but a modern takes on those scents. I do find a few modern scents nice, typicaly the cleaner end of the "marine" scents such as Aqua Di Gio and CK Eternity.

I like more classic scents than I do the modern ones. That's not that modern colognes are inherently inferior, it's just that there's so many out there that smell exactly alike or otherwise just don't appeal to me. I'm more comfortable doused with Bay Rum than I am quenched with a neo-nautical.

Very good point Rob, many modern scents are entirely synthetic and do not meld with your own chemistry. Consequently they smell the same on everyone who wears them.

Probably more classic for me...Eau Sauvage by Dior, Concentré d'Orange Verte and Terre d'Hermès both by Hermès, Floris No. 89, Eau du Sud by Annick Goutal, and Eau de l'Occitan by l'Occitane (though this last one might be considered a modern scent by some).

For me, many of the modern scents are sickeningly sweet and have no subtlety about them. They are also overpowering and do not wear well on me.

Again, this is what works for me and I am in no way suggesting that some of the modern scents won't please others. ;)

Well I am sitting at my desk in a Polo shirt and chinos wearing Joop!, maybe I want to be Bertie Wooster in a Saville Row suit and Jermyn Street shirt wearing a scent that matches with The Duke of Edinburgh's or Prince Charles' warrant on it :ashamed001.
