Lower Alabama! Greetings. I found this site while trying to date a safety razor that my grandfather used. I've used it as a back up for travel for years. I normally shave with a Dove SE razor. I started that when I found that I could get a close shave without irritation using a straight edge. I'd started shaving with a safety razor as a kid and them 'graduated' to various other multi-blade razor shaped devices over the years, always going back to the safety razor after a few months on each one. I have a very dense, tough beard and sensitive skin. Using anything other than a straight razor I have to shave twice a day. Using it I can get away with once, unless I am going to be out late and need to look fresh. I love the ritual of shaving with a straight razor. I find it a relaxing and beneficial way to start each day. Looking forward to learning more.

Thanks for all the welcomes. Well, yes I do! Even though I've been using a straight razor for some time, I know I can learn from others. Here is a question that has bugged me for some time: Where in the world is it possible to get a good Hard Black Arkansas stone that is large enough for a 'standard' razor? I have one that is a bit too narrow. It is a good stone, but it requires me to hone across the stone rather than along its length. Any ideas?
