Nope, it's a three piece open comb. It came in a blue box marked "90R" and has a distinctly Gillette like appearance, quite unlike the 91R which looks like a Merkur. I suspect that Parker's system for assigning model numbers is rather less than stringent. Whatever the case may be, it's a dandy razor. Best Regards goshawk
open comb? Parker? eh? I didn't know that Parker made an open comb. Did this come directly from a vendor or through another person? I would love to see this.
The "Parker" brand which you see on the web is a larger company which makes them exclusive for online vendors like amazon and the various internet sites. They are not for retail market. Once when searching for them, I came across another Indian vendor who also makes razors and funny also used to call them Parker http://www.alibaba.com/member/atinakak.html In the link you see a Weishi type TTO razor. Earlier some months back I had spoken to the vendor and his site also had this open comb 90R razor
well blaz, knowing how small scale industry works, u wud know wot the concept of original and fake is here
Not a fake.. .just a different Parker brand. I would still like to see it. I wish I could directly find it through that site.
I've been away for a couple of days and just checked back into this thread. The razor came from a drug store here in Toronto, and that's really all I know about it. The store is a real old-school sort of place that I think is actually owned by the druggist who runs it, so I could ask him about the wholesaler he got them from. I absolutely love the idea of having a Parker knock-off! Anyway, I'll post a picture tomorrow. goshawk
Hmmmm. If one is going to pay for a Weishi or one of the "better' Parkers, then you're just about in the same league as the Classic or Long Handle Classic Merkurs, and I'd vote for one of those. (I don't like Parker heads, but the handles are often pretty good).
That's my way of thinking. The Merkur 33C would be my choice. Well made, good performer, and can be found for about $25.00.
That Parker 90R 3-Piece looks very nice. Please don't post a link to a place that's selling them cheap - I don't need a new razor.
First of all, I love that way of saying "I did something". I may have to borrow it. Secondly, I didn't think you shaved with safety razors. In fact, I had no idea what a Gem was (I'm new) and went out looking for a $4 straight. Finally, are there cheap straights out there? I hear they're the only way to get a good neck shave.
If you (or anyone else for that matter) want one of these, I can drop by the pharmacy and see if he has any more in stock. PM if you're interested goshawk
