Even though I don't have a DE razor yet, my face is getting better with improving technique and products. I was still lacking ingrediants to make several different pre-shave oils and AF. Yesterday my wife and I ventured out into the vast inner city of Cebu to the oldest street, Colon, in the PI. Wow no parking, 4 lane streets used as 6 to 8 lanes packed with jeepneys, trucks and taxis, and thick crowds. Sometimes you have to walk in a direction you dont really want to go just because the crowed is moving that way for the moment. It is like being in a really old inner city that is uncared for....well I guess that is exactly what it is! The sidewalks are really rough and uneven, hard not to trip and fall. But the crowd keep me from actually hitting the ground. My hairdresser and some local barbers assured me that in Colon at a beauty supply place called Demille is where I could buy DE blades, razors and products. Well it is packed floor to celling with new old stock of almost every cheap and discontinued drugstore personal care product from the last 60 years. However they no longer have DE razors. I did see about 10 different packs of old DE blades. The Blue Gellettes, Bluebird and others I just couldn't identify all locked in an old glass case with prices for a pack (5 or 10) of from P6 (US 12 cents) to P30 (US 60 cents). With still no razor I didn't buy any. The local hairdressers and barbers just use the bare blades in their hand to trim the back of the neck and around the ears. I then went to the other extreme, the premier local mall-Ayala, to find more Witch Hazel and some essential oils. I searched every drugstore, pharmacy, and skin care store and spa and no one had even heard of Witch Hazel! Except the young manager of the body shop. They at least had a package containing soap, shave creme and a brush for the price of about P2500 (US 50). She told me of a new place in the mall called Healthy Options a natural product store. Yes they had Dickinson Witch Hazel, Dr Bonner's soaps, several essential oils, and a host of other products I have been missing. So today I mix up another couple of batches of pre shave oil and AS. Just a progress report. Yesterday's expedition took from 10am to 8pm before we finally got home.
