1. Ok, all this Schick Injector talk lately has made me finally get around to cleaning off my Type C. I have a box/pack of the Ted Pella injector blades. How do I load the Type C and get it to inject a blade?

EDIT: fixed title to reflect education... :D
  2. Yeah, I found that late last night Chris. (haha, not via the search here but via Google....it would've helped if I had used repeater instead of injector in my search...) Thanks for that awesome write up. :happy088

After reading through that post, I realized that the blade cartridge on my Type C Repeater ;) seems to be stuck. When I fold down that door, all I see is the end of the cartridge with a little hole in the middle. I tried needlenose pliers to pull it out, but they couldn't grip it enough. I hope I may be able to use a paper clip in the hole or something....

But once I get it out and cleaned up, I should just be able to use my Ted Pella injector blades, right? Just pop them out of the injector and load them into that blade cartridge?
  3. When you flip the door down, the one that doesn't say "blade" on it, it should pull out an additional 1/4" bringing the clip with it. You will then be able to carefully load the Pella blades into the clip. The new blades are somewhat thinner than the older carbon blades so they may ride under one another instead of ejecting.

I may have to revisit my repeaters someday soon. I easily forget what great shaves they give with all the DE's and Injectors I have around here.
  4. I think I may have diagnosed your problem. The clip is in backwards. The positioning hole faces forward and the end of the clip you should be able to see should say "rear" on it.

I hope you can get it straightened out.
  5. Nope, mine is stuck, then. In the link you provided, post #4, 2nd picture - see how the door on your razor is down and you can see up inside the razor? When the door on my razor is down like that, you can't look up inside the razor because the clip is still sitting in there - it doesn't slide out with the door...I'll get pics when I get home - I thought I was missing something, but I think it's that mine is broken/stuck...
  6. I always thought those things looked clunky.. but after researching this... I feel a new AD bug coming on.... Good thing that the only ones I see on eBay are too much $

Hope you can get that fixed Matt.. It certainly looks like an interesting razor just for the mechanics involved!
  7. Here's the pic:

I'm hoping to be able to fit a paperclip in the hole and pull it out....
  8. Well, the paper clip worked, although I had to bend it and use pliers to pry it out. I bent the end out some, too. Come to find out, whoever had it previously either couldn't read, or didn't understand what "REAR" meant... :happy102

Next question....should there be some sort of spring mechanism? There was a flat bottom piece, and a very small tab that came out when I pulled the blades out - they stuck to the bottom blade.......so close.......

  9. Great job! Seems fairly self explanatory. :D Maybe you have to be somewhat mechanically inclined.

The spring is totally internal on the C, or should be. What is the clip resting on in the last picture? It looks like the back of a cuff link.
  10. It's the back of a collar pin.

Yeah, I'm imagining the internal flat spring isn't supposed to have a fresh looking cut through it, and the whole piece isn't supposed to come out....  Don't pull too hard on it...:ashamed001 That happened when I was test fitting the empty clip, and the cutout on the bottom of the clip got hung up inside.....I think it will still work, but each time I go to load a new clip, I'll have to finagle the flat spring....

And thanks again for all the help and pointing me in the right direction...
  11. Well, I tried loading the injector blades into the clip, and loaded it into the razor. It wouldn't load a blade. I think the broken spring just didn't have enough oomph to force up the blade. So, I modified my Ted Pella injector (I bent the key with an "S" curve) to accomodate the Repeater head. I was able to get a blade part way in, then finagled it the rest of the way into a usable position. Dangerous - didn't cut myself, but I can see the potential if you're not 100% focused. Shaved with it today - got a barely adequate 2 pass shave. It's going to take a lot to get used to the very, very heavy handle/light head ratio, and also the smaller size of the head.
  12. Because of the design of the head it doesn't load like other Injectors. You can, and I have, just simply jack a blade onto something soft like a towel and just pushed the blade into the head. Be careful of course! It should slide in very easily, just make sure to push it all the way back into the head before shaving.
