I have an old wolsty to restore, the scales broke apart, and I tossed them out. I cannot find anyone who sells new ones, and the rivets! Help! I'm not looking for anything fancy, or expensive, just a set of simple black scales with the necessary rivets would do. Anyone got a source?

Most people replacing the scales make new ones from wood or plastic. The 'rivets' are 1/16 brass rod or nickel silver rod with washers from an online source like Micro fasteners.

You can buy replacement scales and pins from here: http://www.classicshaving.com/Razor_Display_and_Razor_Restoration.html

Be sure to email them with the distance from the pivot hole on the blade to the toe (end of the blade) to be sure the scales fit. You will also need a spacer/wedge.

    Good luck!

    howto?

Is there a good article on rescaling and re-pinning? I think I could make some nice scales for my old razor but wasn't sure if there were any special concerns with turning it all back into a user razor? Do I just need to make/buy spacers and peen a pin for it? The scales look a little thin for my usual methods of doing that...
