I got a Gillette Adjustable Safety Razor, in the original plastic case, the black and white one with the magnifier. I looked at the razor carefully, and near the handle on the underside is "C" on one side, and "2" on the other. Is this the date or exact model code? Can anyone tell me how old this is? BTW, I have been using an adjustable Merkur for a few years, but I think I would rather use this Gillette. Which is considered the better razor? Thanks.
Any pictures? It sounds like you have a mismatch. The case sounds like a Fat Boy one but they didn't have a C date code. Could be a newer Super Adjustable circa 1982? Is the handle black?
Hello are you sure that is C 2?is the handle black? In the case that the handle is black is a super adjustable from the 2nd quarter of 1982.If not could be a Toogle with a Fatboy case from the 2nd quarter of 1957.
Closer look with Loupe reveals it is a G2... I looked again, using a loupe, it is actually a G2. Looks like the same razor I used when I was young, in the 60's. Not slim, not black.
Thank you. Thanks. A friend found this at a Salvation Army for $2... It's in great shape, and I will be using it along with my Merkur...
Great find, these are insanely popular and sell for $50-$150 on ebay these days. I got mine pretty cheap but have only used it once or twice. Adjustables are for people who only want one or two razors. Most of us here just buy a dozen++ of every type, and we change what razor we are using rather than going to all the trouble of turning a dial. :happy102
