I am using Merkur Stainless blades, but have ordered some Personna, and some Dorco ST-301 blades. What do you guys prefer in a blade? And, should I remove and dry it after each use?

I really like the Israeli RP's and Derbys. The Derby blades seem to be a love it or hate story. Feathers are considered the sharpest and many won't live without them. I find I get two great shaves from one and then it dies. I get a week from most other brands. Crystals are well thought of by some and others think Astras are great while some cannot abide them.

I hope you're beginning to see the Your Mileage May Vary syndrome here. Best advice, get a sample pack of blades from one of the companies that offer them and try several. Your face will tell you which is the best. :D

Good luck in your search. ;)

P.S. You'll get a variety of answers on the daily removing and drying of the blade. For what it's worth, I do clean, dry, and hand strop the blade. I then put it back in the razor for the next day's shave. That may not be the correct thing to do but it seems to work for me.

Sharp and smooth...... Maybe it should be smooth and sharp.... :D
Not necessary....rinse well, let air dry by loosening the TTO mechanism or the cap from the base. Some people soak it the head w/ blade in barbicide or alcohol until the next use...

    Razor: Merkur standard
    Blade: Feathers
I just water rinse my razor when I'm done shaving and put it back onto my razor/brush holder.

I stick with the Personna line. I have been able to use any of them (American variety, IP, and Red Pack) in all of the razors I've owned. They aren't the sharpest but they are very smooth.

Feathers, 7 O'Clock Super Platinum (black) and Permasharp (green), Supermax platinum and Gillette Wilkinson Sword (Chromium) in that order !!

I do not mind Merkurs, they are my second blade after Feathers. how are they working out for you?

As above, no need to dry between shaves.

Oh what a can of worms!

It depends on the razor... but my top preferences are...

Gillette 7 O'Clocks (Black, Green, Yellow)
    Astra
    KAI
    Iridium

They are sharp blades that give me consistent performance.

    Preferred DE Blades

So far I like Merkurs the best, but I have only shaved with a few. Personna Blades, not very sharp or smooth and Gillets are ok.

For me, It's hard to beat Derbys for price/value. If price were no object, I would choose Feathers, 7 O' Clocks (Yellow, Green).

I find the Bic yellow pack blades made in Greece to do a good job, anyone else like these?

The usual suspects. 7'O clock sharp edge (yellow pack), IP's, Feathers, Super Iridiums.

Honestly I'm finding more and more that different blades will perform differently in different razors with different soaps or creams on different faces with different beard types that all grow in different directions with different amounts of days of growth.

Let the hunt begin for the perfect combination!!

True, different blades for different razors works sometimes.
Just another excuse for a *AD :D
I use mainly feathers, SP Israelis (the small box of 100 marked super platinum), red personnas and KAIs mainly.
There's many others maybe as good or better, like gillettes, iridiums, sharks, BICs etc, but my selection is based on price and availibilty.
I think I just tamed my NEW, never had a really good shave with one and never really liked the israelis over the KAI/Feather in an adjustable, red tip or tech, but the NEW with the SP israelis just clicked for me, great combo.
