Why do men love long hair on women?

Since the original question was three pages back, here is a copy of it for reference.

I read a series of books by Terry Goodkind how in the fictional society he was writing about, the longer the hair on a woman was, the higher her status in society. The head woman in this society, "The Mother Confessor", by definition had the longest hair. Anyone lower than her in status was required to keep their hair shorter. A man could determine the wealth and status of a woman by the length of her hair. In societies throughout our own history, woman short on funds frequently sold their hair to supplement their income. A woman's desirability was judged by hair length. Quality of teeth was also a criteria.

 

I asked my lovely wife who has medium length hair this question.
She replied, " Aren't you just glad I have hair". That would be a "Yes dear".

 

Haha.....yeah...thats a no win situation.

 

I think the reason why men love long hair on women certainly has much to do with feminine stereotypes of beauty, but at the same time I often find women with short, stylish hair to be attractive precisely because their haircut tends to advertise them as ladies with spunk and sass. In that case it's not the hair itself that attracts me, but rather what the hair tells me about the girl. On the other hand, hair itself is an extremely important feature to me, so I pay closer attention than most. I think much of the reason why it's considered attractive is that people who like hair tend to like more of it, while people who don't have the same strong preference don't express a similar desire for short hair.

 

I know, but can any of us men really give a "psychologically sound" answer?
what we really need to have that is a women give us the answer right?::::

When I was younger, I really, really liked long hair. This was back in the 60's when there was a lot of that going around. Not only long, but very straight, as in ironed. Parted in the middle was good too. As I've gotten older, I find that I no longer have much of a preference. If the lady in question is attractive (subjective, I know) and well-groomed, her hair length makes little difference (well, bald is pushing it - say what you will about Britney Spears, you have to admit she looks better with hair! By the way, I'm referring to her HEAD.)

I started to say that I liked a "good medium length, meaning just above the shoulders", but decided the Princess would certainly have something to say about that!

 

For long hair: the way it moves when the woman moves, the feel of it when she is close, the way it frames her face.

For short hair: no hair in your nose or mouth when you're snuggling, no hair tangled in fingers when snuggling, no woman complaining about hair caught in dress zippers... Also, for me, some facial shapes work better with short hair, usually a triangular face shape with a perky/"button" nose. Girls with those kind of features generally look way cuter to me with short hair.

So yeah, every guy finds something different to be attracted to with hair lengths. These are mine.

 

Doesn't anyone just love women for thier brains anymore?

And things get doubly...hairy when you both have long hair. What a mess. Ever have to try to find 2 hair rubber bands when you are...snuggling.

Well before I read the rest of the (I am sure) funny answers to this question, I will answer it MY WAY!

Here it goes. It is all the eye of the beholder. at my work all the ladies have short hair or long hair, but if it is long it is tied in a bun. When you see this day in and day out it becomes routine, but then for some reason when I see the same girl let her hair down it is always a big improvement.
