Im just so happy to received one of his creations.I know Mason from another forum. The first time that I did read one of his post I was amazed of how good looking were his "home made" handles and I wrote him congratulating for his job.Hes so humble that he didnt even take much credit about it. Today I got on the mail this beautiful handle with 2 TGN boar knots(all courtesy of him)The handle is beautifully finished,a little bit heavier than the 1305 and really well balance. Its white pearl and kind of shines.I just wanna congratulate him for making such a beautiful handle(once again Mason!) Guys, should be convince/enabling him to make more of his handles and sell them? That would make some of us really happy!
wow that,s really top class workmanship you,r a lucky guy it,s so difficult to get classy looking handles on the brushe,s the majoraty ar wood or plastic ,really fab let us no how it work,s chear,s
Three custom brush handles Teiste: The Goldennib sells two boar knots. The larger very scratchy boar (From China?) and the wonderful 20mm boar from the UK by Vulfix. The Vulfix needed no break in and is shown in a dark brown vintage bakelite handle on the right in the picture and also in a yellow pearlized handle on the left. It's soft at the tips with some backbone but some may find it too floppy. I love it but would like a bigger knot. (maybe Tony at the Goldennib will get some.) The Vulfix could be a great replacement for a lot of older vintage handles that need a smaller diameter knot. Accept for the bakelite handle, I made the other three handles. One is not finished since I am not quite happy with how it looks at this time. I did not have a long handled brush and may be better for face lathering. So I tried my hand at making one. Although the picture shows a badger knot in the long handle, I am really waiting to get a boar knot that is big enough for the handle. May have to steal one out of a 1305 Semoque. ( Maybe Leon will get me just a knot!?) I wish I had the time and equipment to improve my skills so that I could sell some shaving brushes. I believe my output will be always very limited. I may try to trade one or two for other shaving supplies in the future. Hope to try some exotic woods in the near future. I want to thank you and the other fellow shavers who have encouraged me in this little undertaking.
That is a very interesting brush with the two different finishes. Thanks for the information on the goldennib knots. I didn't realize the UK 20 mm was a Vulfix
sir you have a great talent and you should use it to you,r advantige and sell a few im shure i have no dought you will be overwhelmed with order,s well done the colour,s and designe,s ar faboulou,s well done to you,
I put the 24 mm knot in the handle and I have been playing with it as I always do to break faster the tips. Its a really well pack knot but losted more than 30 hairs during the bowl lathering, however as I have wrote before is really densely packed so Im not worried about it.As Markwtb have pointed is kind of scratchy brush but It seems that its gonna be perfect for facelathering. Markwtb:I really hope that you can get the tools that you need to made more handles and sell them. You have a good taste making them!
I shaved with it today. The handle is nice balance and has the perfect weight!Reminds me a little of the Kent BK series. The knot is sheds a lot so far.I have to wait a couple days more to see if it stops the shedding. However is densely pack which could be the reason that sheds so much.
The 4 brushes shown are excellent but from L to R the first 2 are simply my favorite they are uniqe and the long handle pearl and wood is awesome. Great work.
