So my razor came in yesterday (thank you brothers) This is my first non-cartridge razor. I also got my crabtree and evelyn haul (brush and nomad shaving cream) in as well. I just used it and it blew away my crappy badger brush and shave soap I had bought on base for about $5 to get started. I felt like I was shaving wrong cause Im used to the pull off the mach 3 and I couldn't really feel the blade cutting the hairs. But here I am hairless and smelling great.

Anyway heres what I would like to know what are some suggestions for face care in between shaves. Does anyone wear face lotions to bed or something of that sort? If so what kind?

All I do between shaves is wash my face. Some guys with dry skin use moiturizers. I'm sure one will be along shortly.

Congratulations!Dont worry about your first shaves..it actually takes almost a month to master the technique with a DE razor;proper cutting angle, beard preparation, making a good lather, what blade works for you what blade doesnt and so on.Be patient and enjoy the ride!
I use regular AS before I go to bed.I also use Aloe Vera pure gel when I feel that my skin is really irritate.

Also, remember to let your face rest (if you're not used to shave too often)
Between shaves... humm, well I guess you could follow any skin care procedure but AFAIK that's up to u, maybe a face cleaner and after that a moisturizer?
Also, don't touch your face with your hands too often. Think of all the things you touch with your hands.

Not sure if you use it already but I would recommend you to get an astringent (based on my own experience they help :D) Alum bar or Witch Hazel. or both n_n.

    Enjoy your shaves :D

Yeah I bought witch hazel....I mean straight witch hazel. That stuff smells disgusting. I have to force myself to use it cause it makes me sick.

Maybe it's just me but I don't mind the smell of witch hazel. It reminds me of something very clean.

If you don't like the smell of traditional witch hazel, try one of Thayers scented witch hazels. Many have aloe vera in them and make an excellent AS.

As strange as it may seem, the smell will grow on you (well, not literally :D).

It bugged me a lot when I first started using it, but now I like it a lot. Sounds like you're doing great and having fun.

Between shaves, I don't use anything unless my skin is dry or irritated. In that case, I use that magical elixir known as Corn Huskers Lotion.

    Congrats on the shave!

    +1 to all the above

most people use some combo of an astringent (witch hazel, alum), aftershave(TSD subzero), then moisturizer(skin food). Also there are some that use the OCM (oil cleansing method) do a search to learn more about it.

Just a heads up the second shave is usually the worst. Not sure why, maybe the skin is still getting used to the new shaves or what have you. Also since you have to be in regs you might want to shave at night that way the shave will last you well into the day and you won't be whipping the blade around your face as you try and get out the door.

if the Witch Hazel odor is too disgusting, try using the Alum Bar :)
I couldn't find pure witch hazel here so I bought an astringent that has the extract of WH and since it is a commercial brand it smells good, but I think I'll get an Alum Bar too so I can try both and see which one works best.

Foot Note: Get the Alum bar :) and use even shaves WH, odd shaves the alum bar.
(this one is at the store here :D Alum Bar)

I usually wake up an hour and a half early so I have plenty of time to shower and shave. That used to mean 4:30am it was hard but I would just go to bed at 8-9pm so I could do it.

woah your braver than me I am not very well coordinated when I wake up. I was lucky enough to work mids when I was in. Not enough people to care and if I did a poor job I could conceal under cover of nightness. Now I kinda wish I had someone inspecting me everyday to show my prowess w/ a blade.

soothes razor burn and nicks can also be used as an deoderant. Probably more stuff too but I can't think of them right now.
