I'm in NYC till Monday. Would love to check this store out if I have the time. Which location is better? Thanks!
I go to the one on 34th street because it's convenient; 53 East 34th I think from what I've seen from Jani post on SMF during his trip to London, you might be disappointed. The one on Lex / 62nd is somewhat less crowded and maybe a tad bigger with maybe a little bit more stock, but they're both really tiny, narrow and hard to shop in peace at times. But they're both better than Cambridge and CO Bigelow, in my opinion.
Jeff, maham meegeem "merci" dar Farsi, choncheh we've a slew of French words in our language. Zach, I'm going to the 34th street store out of convenience. Farha & I'll bring a camera...
YES! Bring a camera and take pictures of Farha and then SHARE them, ya dawg!! :love008 Have fun, Boy.
I was just at 34th location earlier today. They have added Parker razors to their stock, most for $22.99. The bone-handled model (Looks like a Chatsworth) is in the $50.00 range. Also added - 7AM, Shark Super Chrome blades. Price of Yellow 7 O'Clocks raised to $7.79 for a five-pack India Green and India Black 7s remain priced at $2.79 Overall, a nice selection of DE blades (German "5-on-the-bottom" Wilks, Crystal, Red Pack Personna, Merkur, both Dorcos, Feathers, Derby, some I'm probably forgetting).
Yes, you are right, Habibi--I forget so often, many French words in Farsi are used......:ashamed001 By the way, Corinne and I enjoy to listen to some Iranian music from time to time.
Unlike Col. Drug, they had Merkur razors in stock: Progress, HD, HD Slant, and 39C. I've never seen a slant before. There were three straight razors I noted, barely visible, in thin black plastic packages on the shelves, by the Merkur and Parker razors, and an expensive TOBS brush. Directly next to a boxed tube of Yardley's Gold SC, which overwhelmed them. Higher priced items should definitely be better protected. A 12.00$ gold-colored Lord Tech was behind the register while these items were in the open. Prices were very reasonable on the whole. TOBS tubs were 13 bucks and some change, with every flavor available. Blades were the only blatant ripoff: saw lots of Merkurs, Sharks, 7AMs, BICs, Astra Olives, Feathers, Crystals, Red IPs and black 7 O'Clocks. Tomorrow I'll put up a more thorough review and pics, tho I just noticed I barely took any. They say a pic is a worth a thousand words, but I say each word I write is worth a thousand pictures :happy102 In the interim, here's a picture of some canned goo:
I've been to both - I think 34th street may have a slightly larger selection of products but I can't really say for sure. The benefit to the other location is that you can walk 3 blocks north on Lexington and visit Cambridge. Overall I think the inventory of items is broader at Pasteurs than what you will find at Bigelow. Bigelow is nice if you want to sample aftershaves or colognes. And Bigelows has better prices than Pasteurs on certain items like Proraso. Proraso SS and AS at Bigelow are $9 and $14, respectively. Very good deal
I stopped in the 34th St location on Saturday. Great selection, cramped store (typical Manhattan). Picked up a tube of Proraso for $10.99. I made my wife hold my money before I went in... no will power.
