Nothing. I find trimmed/shaved pits coupled with a rich body lotion containing alcohol keeps me perfectly fresh all day. If I were to use one, however, it'd be Alum. Feels so nice and cool when applied to the skin.
Don't need to buy another block or dissolve it. Just wet your alum and rub it under your arms. You can use your scent of the day, EdT, cologne, AS, whatever, since the alum is odorless. I dissolved an alum block in witch hazel. It makes a nice astringent. I use straight WH after a shave. My skin is too sensitive for alum. I use either alum or WH+alum in the evening. ADDED: Oh, I use alum/crystal under the arms in the AM for deodorant.
I was using some deo. I found on a shelf in the bathroom- irritated the heck out of my skin and caused a lot of itching. So I recently switched to Almay hypo-allergenic stick. It's not perfect but it works. I'm still looking for that Crystal stuff everyone's recommending.
I use the Thai brand and get at Whole Foods. You can probably find crystals at your local organic market.
I was only thinking of dissolving a block because I have one that's getting really small and difficult to use on my face. I'm assuming it won't be any easier to rub my pits than my face, so why not get some use out of that small piece of alum by making it into a liquid deodorant. The cologne addition would be to add a slight scent as it seems a wast to me to highly scent my underarms. On the other note, if I buy a new stick, it will be to avoid using the same block on my face and pits. I know it's not harmful, but given the low cost and the "eww" factor I figure it's not a big deal.
I'll check out walgreens next. Didn't find any at the nearby CVS. Oh... and local organic market... :happy102 I'm in central Louisiana. They shoot hippies on sight out here. The closest thing to an organic market in Alex. is the cow pastures in the countryside around the city.
Any place sell shave stuff, straights, DEs, soaps, creams, or so? Alum is exactly the same thing. And there always the web. If your in the area, there are Whole Foods in Baton Rouge, New Orleans or Metairie. I'll make sure I bring my vest when I visit. :happy102
Burts Bees Herbal is great all that aluminum in other DO clogs your pores and you cant release toxins in a natural way they only downside to burts bees is that i get body odor only really noticable to myself in i smell my pits after a few hours, but its not a full on nasty ass body odor
Brut, stick with out the alcohol. I have tried the Tom's, but it does not work for me and is always messy. Nest on my list will be Kiss My Face lavender.
Crystal spray. Found it on sale for $2.40 at Vitamin Shoppe. Best deodorant ever used. Works well in a humid environment.
It's a small world. That's what I'm using too. Love it! The wife loves it even more than I do (on me, that is). GREAT stuff.
