Just so everyone knows, I have been looking at Mantic's videos on YouTube and they are very helpful. Thanks Mantic.

That was what I was using. After finding these forums I got my dads old D4 Fatboy, some Derby blades off eBay (from ntguys) and the VDH kit from Wal-Mart. Far better shaves and now I enjoy shaving. The one thing I would suggest to avoid razor burn/irritation is don't try to get that extra shave out of a blade. I only go for 2 or 3 shaves from a blade now.

    Oh yea, welcome to TSD.

for the shave cream...this might help

    for soaps

you might also want to check out the reviews of soaps and creams. and i would also say to start slow...as far as with supplies. start with the shave cream and perfect that. that way you can tell the diff. because its the only thing you would be changing....at least right now.

here is a thread i posted and got some good info.

now of course the lather is like a signature. not everyone does it the same. now also your lather quality depends on a few things. ex. brush, soap or cream used, and water quality.

as for the brushes....i got mine from Classic Shaving. but as far as quality....not sure that that really matters. iv used 3 brushes and got almost the same affect on the lather with all 3. so i think the brush you get depends most on how much you want to spend on it.

for the razor...of course you need to decide if you want a DE (double edge razor) or a SR (straight razor) i think the SR is more work to keep but i love it. IMHO the SR will get you the best shave possible. but then again i havent tried a DE. but again....with any questions you might have....just ask and we all will answer. :D

just found this thread too. i think this will help with the brush questions.
