    Crystal (2)
    Rooney 3, 1 Super
The Body Shop Shave Cream (old version)
The Body Shop Razor Burn Relief balm
    Max Refreshing Aftershave w/Menthol

This used to be my standard shave when I was first starting out, but I haven't used these products together in quite a while. It actually brought back memories of days gone by.

I'm really shocked at how mild the Slim is. I had to open it all the way up just so I could get a good shave. Yesterday I had it set to 5 I found myself blade buffing and going over tough spots multiple times which led to a bit of razor burn on my chin. A couple of years ago I wouldn't go higher than 5 and normally kept it set at 3.

    Oversized Shave

    Wednesday

Razor: Merkur Vision 2000 on 2
    Blade: Iridium Super
    Brush: Shavemac 208
    Pre-Shave: Kell's Original Turkish Mocha Pre-shave Soap
    Soap: MWF
    A/S: Royall Lyme

When I saw a Vision 2000 up for trade on the B/S/T, I just could not resist (Thank you Justin). I decided to make today's shave an Oversized Theme with my Shavemac 208 (32 mm knot), Vision 2000 and 8 OZ bottle of Royall Lyme.

I had been warned that the Vision 2000 was aggressive so I chose the soap that provides the most protection...Mitchell's Wool Fat. The Vision had the same auditory feedback as the Futur (it sang) but there was more tactile feedback (I could feel the blade a bit more than the Futur).

The Vision definitely shaves closely and is also definitely not for a beginner. I still need to get the hang of this monster but did enjoy a BBS shave with one nick suffered on the final pass (must have been too cocky) and a weeper on my chin. I had to use my Norfolk to touch up under my nose. The Royall Lyme, as usual, provided an excellent finish.

I cannot wait to use the Vision again. My only problem now is that the Vision does not fit in my pipe rack. :shocked031

    Wednesday Shave

    Wednesday, November 4, 2009

    Razor: Merkur Progress XL
    Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
    Brush: Vulfix 2234 Super Badger
    Cream: Speick--formerly a little neglected
A/S: Dickinson’s Witch Hazel, followed by Speick splash

I’ve been using soaps a lot lately, and realized that I hadn’t used my Speick cream for awhile so decided to use it this morning. The shave was outstanding and reminded me of how much I like Speick (hey, that rhymes!). And, of course, the fragrance was wonderful.

To pay further homage to Speick, I must say that the Speick A/S splash provided an extremely fine finish.

    Wednesday Morning:

Hot Shower/Proraso Glycerin Cleansing Bar/Hot Towel
    1953 Gillette 40's Style SS
    Swedish Gillette (Shave #2)
    Kent/Altesse Pure Badger
    Palmolive Moisturizing Deluxe SC
    English Leather A/S
    Vaseline IRML Lotion

Things went pretty darn good today. Usually, if I'm going to get irritation from a shave, I'll start to feel it on my face right around now. Not the case this time around. I really tried to concentrate and use a very light touch and I remembered to stop when the shave was good enough. I think that will always be the case with me. I need to stop when it's good enough and not try and get that one rough area to be smooth because that will cause problems. The Indian Palmolive performed very nicely. Very moisturizing just like the packaging says. And English Leather provided a very nice and long lasting finish.

Schick injector type L, the razor I used in college, is doing the job this week. Using a variety of soap samples.

Great shave all the way around. I absolutely love this combination of AS/Cologne and of course Iced Sub Zero is amazing. If you use wax on your stash, I would strongly recommend Oregon Wild Hair wax. It's not goopy or sticky but does seem to last very nicely, even over night.

A terrific shave after staying up watching the Yankees win the Series. The 7 a.m. works really well with the Tabac, but, anything seems to go well with Tabac. A DFS to celebrate the win.
