    Neglected Thursday:

Gillette SS razor - not so much now
Gillette Mejorada blades - these either
ARKO SS - been to long not using a great product
Rooney 3/1 brush - still getting the hang of this one
Ivy Club Spice A/S - good stuff I should use more

Another nice shave though I had to work harder than I like cuz the Gillette SS is so mild

    VDH Deluxe
    Gillette SS Black Tip
    Walmart Personna

I was using the VDH deluxe and VDH brush for neglected week but in haste I grabbed one of the brushes I've made which was right next to it but it's been a bit neglected as well.

Another neglected shave... I've been enjoying this.

    1947 Gillette Super Speed
    Iridium Super
    Rooney 3, 1 Super
    Men-U Shave Cream
    Men-U Face Wash
    Men-U Aftershave Balm
    Proraso Aftershave Splash

I bought the Men-U sample pack sometime in 2007 and haven't used it in a looong time. So long, in fact, that when I tried to open it the lid broke off. I just squeezed the remainder of the cream, which had separated despite shaking it up, into my bowl and proceeded to get excellent lather for three passses. I haven't used the 47 Super Speed in quite a while either. All in all I got an excellent shave.

    Thursday Shave

    Thursday, November 5, 2009

    Razor: EJ Chatsworth
    Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
    Brush: Vulfix VS/5 Boar
    Soap: Irisch Moos stick
A/S: Dickinson’s Witch Hazel, followed by Wesley & Scott Clove and Peppermint balm (this balm has been neglected for some time)

The Vulfix boar brush stirred up plenty of creamy, protective lather after rubbing my wet face with the IM shave stick. In fact, I had enough to make 3 passes plus touchup. The shave today was excellent. I think the brush still needs some additional breaking in, but it performed well today.

The Wesley & Scott C&P provided its characteristic “zing” and was a very nice finish.

Razor: Merkur Vision 2000 on 2
    Blade: Iridium Super
    Brush: Shavemac 2007 LE
    Pre-Shave: Kell's Original Turkish Mocha Pre-shave Soap
    Soap: Harris Arlington
    A/S: Pre de Provence ASB

My 2nd shave with the Vision was much like my first...a very close shave with one nick (my worst nick yet) and some irritation. Fortunately I had a styptic match handy which quickly stopped the bleeding. It is going to take a little while to tame this beast. My next attempt will have the Vision at its mildest setting!

The Harris Arlington soap was great as advertised. The Shavemac brush effortlessly whipped up a ton of creamy lather while the PdP balm helped soothe the burn.

    Neglected Week Day 4

Shave Of The Day - November 5th
    Neglected in Blue

    • Hot Shower
    • Rex Brand Boar Brush
    • Pinaud Club Lather Luxury Shave Cream
    • Weishi - Oldest Sons
    • Wal-Mart Personna Blade - Day 2
    • Sharp Brand Blade Day 1 to Finish
    • Homemade Skin Food
    • Stetson A/S

Now I remember why the Wal-Mart Personna blades are neglected. This was the second day with this blade and it immediately started to pull and tug, switched it out for a Sharp Brand and ended with a fantastic BBS shave. The Weishi is really an underrated razor, and the Pinaud lather shave performed very well too.

    Thursday Morning:

Hot Shower/Proraso Glycerin Cleansing Bar/Hot Towel
    1953 Gillette 40's Style SS
    Swedish Gillette (Shave #3)
    Tweezerman Deluxe
    Vasmol Super Fresh SC
    Skin Bracer Cooling Blue A/S
    Vaseline IRML Lotion

Only the third time in my life that I have shaved two days in a row and I think I now know for sure that every other day is going to be the way it is for me. Although I did have fairly decent results today, my face did feel a bit raw afterward. I might be able to attribute some of this to the Vasmol SC. Vasmol Super Fresh? More like Vasmol Super STING! My face just DID NOT like this stuff. I think it may have something to do with the perfume. I get a similar sensation when I use TOBS Rose. On top of that, the lather was sub par. So far, the only Indian cream I've tried that just didn't deliver in performance. The Skin Bracer cooled me down and helped alleviate some of the sting and then the application of the moisturizer really took things down a notch. It's 6pm and I don't have any irritation so I'm happy.

Yeah, but the ages are between 19-60. I'm 55, so I belong right in! We have a great time--we drink, play backgammon, and all you hear us speak is Arabic, it's a very Lebanese place. ;)

Wow, I have also the Vasmol SC, and I never had irritation from it. I find it has a good lather and also a soothing feeling on my skin. The scent is to me however, not nice.
