I recently acquired and open comb Gillette OLD. It's pretty tarnished and has some rust. Will a Scrubbing Bubbles bath followed by MAAS polish do the trick for me? Also, it seems that two pieces that are supposed to be permanently attached no longer do so. Here are some pics. The second one shows the two pieces that should be connected but aren't. They are the far right two pieces. The handle does have some cracks in it which is what I'm pretty sure is causing the other piece to slip out. Any easy fixes to getting these two pieces to meld together again and maybe seal the cracks as well? I think it's still usable if not. She only cost me about 6 bucks so it won't be a huge hit if I can't use it.
That is a OLD with the common splits. a good epoxy will glue the end back on the handle. I love to shave with my OLD's. Hope that it cleans up good.
I'm sorry. I don't know where I got the idea that this was a new. Thanks for the info. Any recommendations on an epoxy glue? I don't even know where to start for that.
I will let some of the more mechanical types chime in. I think the two part stuff you can get at wally world will work good though. There should be some threads on repairing those cracks around somewhere. Fuzzy
Any water resistant 2 part epoxy will work alright, and I have used J B Weld too with good results. Sometimes with it being thicker and grey it is easier to use and harder to see than even the clear. Will N.
Scrubbing bubbles followed by Maas will work wonders. Post before and after pictures so we can see the results.
