I'll be visiting family in Grand Prairie, TX in a couple weeks for Thanksgiving and was wondering if there are any shave shops worth checking out in the area.

Dallas area doesnt really have the shops like Vegas or Chicago.

Only place to get a shave is in Richardson called King Barber. Its a little bit of a drive from Grand Prairie but it is worth it.

they also sell the lucky tiger line

Also have an Art of Shaving store at Northpark Mall off 75 and Park lane in Dallas

Well, it looks like we have to drive through Dallas to get to Grand Prairie, so I'll see if we have time to stop in at The Art of Shaving.

And on a partially related note, is there any food that I have to try while I'm there? I'm pretty adventurous when it comes to food. Snake on a stick, perhaps? That's not all that adventurous to me, but I've never had it.

AoS isn't that great unless you've never been there before. They don't have stores in Chicago?

Good Tex-Mex. Barbecue, preferably beef brisket.

There are a couple other barbers giving straight shaves, though King Barber (ask for Dave, from what I hear) would be best. Haven't tried any of them yet, so I can't give a personal recommendation.

There's an Art of Shaving here in Chicago, I just haven't been in there yet. And seeing as how it's a chain retailer, there's probably no need for me to go out of my way when I have one so close.

I've heard what Texans can do with beef brisket is almost an art. I'll definitely have to try some.

    Food:

Lonesome Dove Bistro - Fort Worth http://lonesomedovebistro.com/index-old.asp
Celebrity Chef Tim Love's personal Restaurant. Best items on menu are Rattlesnake Sausage for appetizer and Red Deer (Stag) Tenderloin for main course. Will cost you about 40 or so a person but completely worth it. If your looking for that authentic cowboy atmosphere then this is your place and right in heart of the Historic Forth Worth Stockyards. Best restaurant in Forth Worth IMO

    Stephan Pyles - Dallas http://www.stephanpyles.com/index.asp
5 star restaurant worth every penny. Best food I have ever had in Dallas.

For BBQ and Brisket try one of these places
Sammy's Bar B Que 2126 Leonard St Dallas, TX 75201
Back Country Bbq 6940 Greenville Ave Dallas, TX 75231
    Riscky's BBQ (my fav) http://www.risckys.com/
