Really great scores; congratulations! Two bucks for a nice Fat Boy is a heck of a deal. I've got a very similar Wostie that was handed down from my grandad. They are great shavers when sharpened correctly. Oh, and +1 on Rodd's brush handle love. :signs154 Thanks for sharing!
Do you have any idea how old any of them are or anything? And what is the handle of the brush made out of? It almost looks like bone?!?
That's a Wolstenholme "Pipe" razor. Evidently in nice condition and worth every penny your girlfriend paid for it. (That's some girlfriend, by the way!) Probably made some time around 1890 - 1900. Hard to say about the other one, but if it works and it cost twelve bucks, well that's alright, innit? The Fatboy for $2 was an unbelievable score :happy096 The Gem Featherweight is a nice little razor and a good buy. Good Hunting indeed! Best Regards goshawk
I don't know straights, but the fatboy and the featherweight are good buys. Put it this way, fatboys are going for $30 to $60 and up on the 'bay. Featherweights (the plastic handled SE) are common and sell for around $5. If you're interested in SE shaving that's a good one to try with, although it's not the best shaver you can find.
+1 on the Wolstenholm. Good buy! Pipe razors are good ones. The Fatboy and the Pipe razor alone make it worth the price by a mile.
Great Scores on all accounts. Do you plan to hang on to any of those treasures for personal use or just plan on selling them off? Some a$$ clown cleaned out my local antique malls, oh yeah, that was me. One of them still has a couple straights that bear further investigation. I think they may even have a C Mon and a Keen Kutter. Condition not verified. I did pull a nice boker out of there for $24 though. I passed on a Valet Autostrop (always broke when I see cool stuff) when I returned it was gone.
*grumbles* Man I'm so envious. There ain't crap around here. A Fatboy for 2 bucks! Sheesh. Great score coheed, I'm gonna go throw a fit like a 2 year old now. :happy096
Are you gonna? I wondered are you going to get any of the straights honed and use them. really its not hard to shave with a straight. Hope you do try anyways.
