This Razor is from 1914 and it was made in Canada its my been in my family awhile, So Iam wondering if any knows if it has any value or any more history about it. The box is silve same with the Razor and Razor sharpener. Thanks to all for helping me.
I love to shave with the valet's. I have two of them. Although neither of them are made in Canada. That is a very very nice set. Enjoy. Fuzzy
Thanks for the mini poster on amazon it is a neat old school shave poster about the autostrop thanks.
I am debating on cleaning it up to sell or clean it up to actually use it and feel how good of shave it really gives. Any suggestions?
Always clean and use family stuff is my motto.. then if you do not like it sell it. Even if it just stays on the shelf it is a family memento type thing. my .02 worth. I will raise the ante some.. I will have some blades that will fit that here in a few weeks. When I get them in I will send you a few to try it out with. Fuzzy
In my sig line there is a site... on that site there is a set of valet instructions.. shows how to use the thing.. Tell um Fuzzy sent ya Fuzzy
Hey thanks Fuzzy I ve been playing around with it , I cant wait to try it out ive been looking for blades thanks for the heads up.
Cool.. Let me find out when I will get the blades in then I w ill get your addy to mail them That razor takes the blades with the cut outs.. not just the modified SE blade. Fuzzy
VIVA LA REVOLUTION!! Look ma I got another one... I am a bit of a SE freak.. I hope you like them. Fuzzy
I love Valets...I have a few...I would have to look to see if I have a made in Canada version. I have used them many times. I was fortunate in some of my valet finds...unused blades were included! Just make sure the strop is in good shape...A little dressing will revive it nicely! As for the other pic, that is an old DE blade hone...popular in the day of the gillette blueblades. I wouldn't recommend using it on modern stainless blades! But it makes for a nice mantle piece! CC
+1 My Grandfather used a Valet Autostrop, and I'd love to have it now - unfortunately all that's left is the Bakelite case and a couple of blades. I'd hang on to that if I were you. goshawk
I think Ill be keeping it... And trying it out for an old school shave.. Its a piece of history too. I found out my great great grandpa was the first Coroner in Vancouver and he got this as a gift when he first started so I dont think I can sell it. Ill give a good clean? If any has any good remedies on how to clean it I would very happy to hear them. Thanks guys.. and fuzzy if ya ever get some sampler blades for it that would be great and thanks again.
I was actually looking for those as well. The one Valet I have takes normal single edge but the other takes ones with a cutout piece. Would appreciate a link to a site for these if available. Thanks.
