Doing a little internet research, that what it seems to be. It was listed as "Belgian Rare $100.00" at the cutlery store. It is yellowish on one side, gray on the other. Now I don't hone on the gray side, right. That's just slate. Am I correct? What grit is it? Do I need to make slurry with it before I use it or will a little spritz of water do? Now I have the Lynn Abrams stright razor dvd and I saw the honing part. So by his recommendation, I picked up a Norton 4000/8000 grit water stone, also. and they way I understand it (please help me, I'm a newbie with more money then brains) to touch up the edge on my DOVO 41 when it's starting to get dull, I do the 4000 grit stone, then the 8000 in a pyramid combo (like Lynn said). then what would I use the Belgian stone for, a polish only? And if that is the case, is a polish only a cosmetic thing strictly to make it look pretty and it has nothing to do with the sharpness of the edge?
ok, i just found a great thread on the SRP about Beliaian hones. Sorry, I tend to ask alot of questions before looking around. Same with buying stuff. Sometimes I just jump in and learn that way. Makes my wife really mad, tho:happy102
