Hi all, I am new to the world of wet shaving and here is my story. I have been 90% multi-blade cartridge shaver and 10% electric. About 1.5 month ago I was looking for a small travel electric shaver on Amazon and was reading reviews from other customers. One of the reviewers said something like "this is a good shaver, but try wet shaving with a DE razor and you will never go back". That caught my interest (especially since I had no idea what a "DE" razor is) and I started doing some searches and reading. Long story short - I found this forum as well as few others, watched the famous youtube videos, bought a Merkur 34C razor, brush, soap, and a blades sampler. And now I am a recovering electric/multi-blade shave-a-holic and enjoying my new morning shaving ritual immensely. Since then I also acquired my first adjustable (Merkur Futur) and my “upgraded” brush should arrive any day now. My wife calls my new hobby a middle-life crisis, but I told her that there are many other middle-life crisis hobbies I could pick up and she should be happy I went with this one… to which she agrees. I am now looking forward to shaving every morning as well as reading, learning, and contributing to this great community.
Welcome to the Den! It good to have another future acquisition disorder enabler here with us! Happy Shaves!

Who said future? I am already well into it Just purchased 20 feathers and a feather travel razor from Paul... Thanks you all.
Thanks. Now I need to find a good avatar... I see a lot of squirrels around... I feel like I am missing some internal joke or story about that
Welcome as well from another new to the forum but older to shaving guy! And, if somebody has time, what is the Squirrel (SP) deal? My backyard squirrels and I are having a week about the bird feeder .. do you all like them pan fried or braised?
My Crabtree & Evelyn Best Badger brush arrived yesterday. I was lucky enough to find it in one of the stores for $28+tax (they had a 20% off deal). Had a first shave with it, wow, what a difference comparing to my Tweezerman that I got from Amazon, which is also supposetely badger. I now realize that some of my "razor burn" were actually "brush burn" since tweezerman felt very stiff and scratchy on my face. The C&E brush is so damn soft and it is not even broken in yet! Makes great lather with cream (haven't tried soap yet) and my face loves it. In fact, I don't think I would want anything softer then this brush so I guess I don't have to spend money on the silvertip Fantastic brush and great value!
Great Choice. That razor is a little gem. Ironicaly enough though, I am yet to try a feather in the one I have! Maybe next shave!
