What is the proper way to clean the razor? Maybe I am doing this all wrong but the cream I use(Taylor of Old Bond Street) left a hazy film on the razor. How do you get it off?

Doesn't sound like you are doing anything wrong, that hazy film should just wipe off, or at most use some scrubbing bubbles and a toothbrush.

While on vacation over the holidays, I noticed a hazy film on my razor too. This never happens at home. I think it was due to hard water. My water at home is softened. Scrubbing bubbles brought back the shine.

I will say that it is probably due to hard water. Here in Vegas, he have VERY hard water. I get a scummy film on my razor almost every shave. A quick rub with the towel I wipe down the counter with gets rid of it. Never had to use anything stronger then that, like scrubbing bubbles lol!
