Curious to know if it is wise to try shaving with old, unused razor blades?

Got a box of old Gillette blades that I am dying to try out, but want to be sure that they are as sharp as the day they were packed!

    Safe?

    Thanks!

If they are stainless and haven't been wet or otherwise damaged they should be fine. Old carbon steel blades really aren't good, though a couple modern carbon steel blades are still being made if you can get your hands on them.

I would definitely try those blades. They look promising. Let us know how you do.

They will be ok. I have shaven with old stainless blades from the sixties and early seventies and they were just fine.

I came into possession of some vintage blades, and just as in trying out new blades, it paid trying them out in different razors. They are terrible in a Tech, but work very well and lasted several shaves in a flair tip Super Speed. They were a Rexall Drug store brand, probably from the late 40s.

I got a NOS Weck set which has 5 unoponed blades. Very sharp blades(some pitting, I don't know why) and on the instruction booklet stropping is recommended. I guess if I strop they will be pass hanging hair test.
