Just curious. Hope I get the poll working properly. Never thought about this much during my cartridge shaving days. I didn't use aftershave; a lot of people don't. I get the distinct impression, though, that among DE/SE/Injector/Straight enthusiasts, like the folks around here, it's unusual not to do so. I'll put myself down for "rarely", though. Every now and then I'll get some AS as a present, or get a free sample, and feel obligated to try a little before pouring the rest down the drain.
No need to put yourself down . Seriously, I'm a usually kind of guy. Only on a rare occasion when I have an ultra-smooth shave and no desire for the scent do I skip aftershave. I've always used something. Before discovering new items I like much better now, it was Stetson, Stetson Sierra, and occasionally some other wal-mart or drug store splash.
When I used to shave with an electric or cartridge shave, I never used after shave. But since switching to DE/SE/Straight shaves, I always use at least some witch hazel and most days a little after shave as well. Still don't do the cologne thing...
Before switching to wet shaving, I used what ever lotion was in the medicine cabinet. Nowadays, I typically use witch hazel, CVS Old Spice, my homemade Bay Rum, or any combination of those.
Always and sometimes during the day as a re-fresher sort of.. Mostly cause I like it soo much :ashamed001
I like the after shave tingle. without it, I feel that the morning session just isn't complete. Kind regards,
For me, the best part of the shave is the after shave. I prefer the liquids to the gels or balms...gotta feel the burn.
Save yourself some money and buy the Ivy Club at the Family Dollar Store, its exactly the same thing as your CVS "Spice" for about $1.75... As for the poll, I always used an after shave even pre wet-shaving days, the only time I don't is when I use my Old Spice Swagger set, then I settle for Thayers Rose Witch Hazel.
