Telling us what aisle we can find badger brushes is cool and all but if he could front us a sweet ass unreleased live version of "The Sky is Crying" that would be even more awesome.
I thought we'd played this game before, but then, you're right...that was a while back. Palmetto for the state tree/symbol of the Palmetto State, South Carolina. And B for my first name, Blair. Started out as an Ebay handle, and just used it for everything else after a while.
Stephen: first name DE: double edge, also, D is the first letter of my last name. Not terribly exciting, but I like it anyway and its easy to remember.
Greetings! My Dad's nickname in the Navy was "VEZ" or "The Vez", so when I first joined the interwebs, I took on the alias of TheVez2.
Philthy: a spin-off of my given name, Philip Bastard: Yes, I am. Though, I am often referred to as Philth, Philthy, Philthy Bastard, and Philthy Animal, my stage name is Buck Mustang.
Stingrays Rock! About five years ago, I was on Grand Cayman Island. I took a boat tour that included a stop at a sand bar a few miles off the coast where the water was chest deep. We jumped into the water and were able to feed and pet Stingrays. It was an awesome experience. These are wild rays that have acclimated to having people come out and feed them. Being surrounded by many, many rays, sharing their world was a cool experience. They were like dogs or cats in a way; they would come up to you and rub on your legs wanting to be fed. When I got back home, I commemorated the experience with a Stingray tattoo, my first tattoo, the first of what has turned out to be many tattoos. So, Stingraysrock!
Entirely not what I would have guessed. I was thinking along the lines of a sports team, but your explanation is so much cooler!
About 10 years ago I was on Vacation with my wife in Chile. We visited a Glacier in Calefate Chile, and we were walking along a well-travelled path when the ground beneath me gave way and I fell into a cleft in the glacier. Luckily there were about 200 people there at the time and they fished me out. All that happened to me was a scraped knee and a chipped tooth. i looked up the word "cleft" in the dictionary when we got home and found the synonym "Crag", and Crag just stuck with me. I use it to play games. I used it for my online tags everywhere except at Nano-Reef.com where I'm Reefmonster.
I took that same boat ride out and fed the sting rays about 10 yrs ago. It was weird, they were kind of like large tame dogs. The guide would hold one that you could pet and feed these weird pellets. Was a good trip and enjoyed 7 mile beach. I'm going to have to take a look at those pics again. PanChango is one of a few handles I use online. While at Temple University, I worked at an upscale restaurant on Walnut Street to put myself through school. Mostly I baked bread and a few of the Mexican guys I was friends with all called me panchango which roughly translated to bread monkey. My real name is Dale. Use which ever makes you happy.
Hanzo, from Hanzo the Razor, or Kamisori Hanzo, the protagonist of 3 wild Samurai movies from the 70's. He plays a medieval Japanese constable investigating crime and corruption , his method of interrogating female suspects is truly unique in world cinema. Japanese actor Shintaro Katsu plays Hanzo and is famous for his portrayal of my favorite series of Samurai films, Zatoichi, the blind masseuse swordsman.
This is a sweet thread, thank you for resurecting it Bill. My forum name comes from the fact that because of my dad working for US Airways I have spent a good chunk of my time on airplanes my whole life. Took my first flight a few days after I was born and Ive loved travelling ever since. Second part comes from my heritage, my mother is French, and I learned to speak French before I did English. I'm proud to be a citizen of both nations. There it is The Flying Frenchman. I guess I thought of it first as a play on the legend of the Flying Dutchman. As a boy I read Brian Jaques version of the story and I loved it. My Tin Tin avatar kind of represent the same travel thread. Even though he's from Belgium as a kid I learned to read with those books and they've given me a desire to see the four corners of the earth.
Oh... Etoyoc goes back a long way... back to dial ups and being up late on things called Havens and MUDS. OK... I had recently moved back up north (and getting constant flak about my accent) and Crocodile Dundee ads were on the tv and radio, so as a joke I logged in once as redneck.d (pronounced in the netspeak of the time as redneck dotdee) Redneck.d was given a full name at an improv club meeting in college where he became Jim Bob Joe James John Zechial the 3rd, Aborigine tracker. So I started using jimbob.d and eventually just plain jimbob. Before long, I switched to Southern Comfort. But that got boring as well, so I wrote a little bit of script to randmonly chose a "So" word and combine it with a random "Co" word whenever I logged in.... My favorite combinations were things like soggy cornflakes, socialite cockroach, and somber coyote. After a few bad social faux pas and getting sick of everyone always asking why I was sad (Somber does not have to mean sad - look it up)... I decided to embrace my inner backwardsness and started using etoyoc rebmos. However, I still got questions about being sad all the time, so I finally dropped the rebmos part. So there you go, cause and effect relationships on a user name over a 24 year period.
David = First name Hud = Last name (Hudson) 29 = My age when I came up with the username. I just keep using it even though I get older. I use the same name on all forums.
