1930's ? Anyone got any kind of idea as to what exactly this is. I am pretty sure its a NEW. Either way, I like it. I was thinking of getting it replated, anybody know how much that would cost or how to do it yourself, jewelers etc? Anyway, I found this baby in an antique shop yesterday for $6. Not in mint condition but cleaned up nice. Here are the pics.
My Grandfather had one of those I remember it from when I was a Kid. I know it's some type of razor because thats where he kept it with the other razors he had will a regular DE blade fit in it?
Good Find! You know I have know idea what that is but I must say your lookin a little chunky kinda like your big bro LMAO! Slowly back away from the table and go shovel some snow!! Oh yeah nice razor I got a few old fellas lookin in the attic to see if they can find me a shaving treasure! :happy102
Bob, yep, short comb New. I've got a similar one that came in a lot of four razors. The plating on the head is worn off showing copper, like yours, but it shined up to look really nice, and I think I actually prefer to keep the two tone look. No idea what replating would cost if you did want to do that. Oh yes, it's a great shaver, one of my two favorite DEs, along with my Fatboy. Slamthunderide, welcome to the Den! Yes, this razor takes standard DE blades.
I haven't loaded it up with a blade yet just to avoid temptation. I have a promise to keep with the LUX I have first. I'm sure a blade will fit though, it seems normal size.
I have a frankenrazor with a NEW head identical to that razor. It accepts any modern DE blade and shaves quite nicely. That handle looks nice and hefty. Good find!
